If you are still living with them, you really don't have the right to do that just yet. However, if you are out on your own, my son told me that it was really nice of me to be interested in his life, but that he'd really prefer to make his own choices. He promised me that if he needed me he would just ask. I took the hint and he does come to me with certain things and the rest he handles on his own.

It's hard to let go of our children, even when they are grown. He must have thought very long and hard about how to approach me and his dad, because the words were beautiful.

Best of luck to you.

There is no way to do that, even when you tell them i can fend for myself or if you live on your own. I am 20, i moved out of my parents house when i was 17. I now have a 5 month old daughter, i work a full time job, as well as her father. We both have never asked our parents for help. We own 2 cars, pay all of our bills, own everything but a house so far, and my parents they still try to tell me what to do. I help them fiancially more than they do me. So forget it, just say okay and let it go because it will never stop

Your parents will always be in your business as its their job to be, if they weren't they wouldn't be good parents.

Why don't you just sit down with them and explain the way that you feel, don't be rude about it just talk about things with them calmly and hopefully they will understand. They won't back off completely but they might give you a bit of slack. If you move out of home and they are no longer responsible for you then that is another way they will be out of your business as you will be living on your own

Well, tell them you are an adult, being 19. If you are living under their roof though you still do need to go by their rules. If it is that big of a problem then move out and get your own apartment or something.

Move out, support yourself, and don't tell them your business. That's the nicest way, I'm afraid.

Are you still Living at Home? If so, then they will always be in YOUR business. IF you are living on your own, don't let them know anything you do NOT want them to know.

Tell them that you are an adult and you can handle it yourself and say thank you anyways I appreciate everything that you did for me.

"It's time for me to live my own life". Just make sure you're out of their house first and fending for yourself.

I would always start with a positive. Such as, "I know you are concerned...but I wish you could just let me handle my own affairs." Or..."I love you, and I know you love me...but...."
