Yes because color dries the hair out and you want to keep it conditioned so it doesn't break off.

It all depends on how often you have your hair trimmed, how oily your hair is and how you style your hair.
Frequent cuts will get rid of dry ends. If your hair is naturally oily, the oils will keep your hair moisturized but heat styling will dry it out.
If you have an oily scalp but the ends get dry, then apply conditioner to the ends only. Or use a bit of leave-in conditioner at the ends before heat styling.
Joico K-Pak is a really good, rich conditioner. It can be used as every day or as a deep conditioning mask.
A drop of jojoba oil applied to the ends will condition your hair, add a little separation, and sheen. Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic and washes out easily. (I buy Desert Essence Jojoba Oil @ Trader Joe's.)
Redken makes some good spray on conditioners/thermal protectors.

of course, and even more so if it is color treated. the length of your hair doesn't matter; all hair needs to be conditioned and a deep condition from time to time never hurts.

Definitely! You should make sure your hair is conditioned well anytime you add a chemical like hair color to it. It weakens the folicals. Deep condition regularly!
