My daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 7. www.bpkids.org has some very good pamphlets you can download for free or order for very low cost, including some specially written for teachers. I recommend going ahead and ordering more than one, as they tend to not make it back into the permanent file. Also try www.bpchildren.com for friendly advice and books written for bipolar kids to help them and their friends and siblings understand what's going on. You can e-mail me if you want to; faburobin@yahoo.com. Good luck!

First of all, I would get a second opinion about your son's condition. It is very hard to properly diagnose bipolar disorder in children that young. There are many other possibilites that could be causing your child's behavioral problems. If you are sure he has bipolar, there are support groups for bipolar familes. Doing a google search should help you find these. Also, NIH (national institute of health) or mentalhealthamerica.net are good websites and should offer more solutions. Good luck.

There is a great book written for help dealing with people with borderline personality which is very similar but not treatable with drugs. It is called Stop Walking on Eggshells. I would think a lot of the advice would be applicable.
