Definitely try to live in Annapolis. It is awesome and you will definitely be able to find something in a good price range the furrther away you get from the waterfront.

You will also be about 35 minutes away from Baltimore which is a perfect commute.

As for entertainment, there is plenty to do. Living right on the waterfront might be a tad bit pricey, but there are lots of pubs, restaurants, and hide-outs. There is definitely something for anyone's taste.

Annapolis is also not far away from Washington DC, which aside from popular belief is not a "bad" place to hang out. There are lots of cool clubs, restaurants, and trendy spots to visit.

Good luck in your search and with your new job!!!

Baltimore is undergoing a resurgence right now with many areas being rebuilt and remodeled as DC residents are moving up to Baltimore as a 'big city environment, at a lower cost.' You might seriously want to consider staying Baltimore if you are working there.

That said, Annapolis is a beautiful place to live, but it is quite pricey to live in the more 'central' areas. It's a sailing and Naval place, and it has a downtown that has many bars and restaurants, but you might not find it your 'crowd' or that many people your age. The central area of Annapolis can be as pricey as DC or Baltimore. The less expensive areas are like suburbia USA.

I'd suggest coming to Annapolis and taking a look and seeing what you can afford. Then head to Baltimore and take a look at some of the recovering neighborhoods (and where you job might be).

Good luck

Baltimore City has a lot of hot (but expensive) neighborhoods like Federal Hill, Canton, Fells Point, Hampden with each neighborhood having its own unique nightlife.

Annapolis is smaller and dominated mostly by both the Naval Academy and State Government. Plus, Annapolis is more oriented towards the DC metro crowd due to the sailing presence. Annapolis is just as expensive as Baltimore in some cases.

Depending on where you wind up working, stick with the City.

Also keep in mind that it can be expensive to live down there. I live in Baltimore City, where it's much cheaper, but the crime is higher all around-although I feel like my neighbor hood is safe, although I just moved here. I lived in Glen Burnie before. Which is about 10 minutes outside of Baltimore and the crime there is really low. It's more expensive then the city and doesn't have much in the way of nightlife, but it's a great place to live because it's in between everything. I think it's about 25 minutes away from Annapolis.

Good luck. Rent down here is going to run you about $1000 a month just about anywhere for a 1 bedroom I paid $900 in Glen Burnie though. But if you live in the nicer places you're looking at $1300-1600.

if you are going to be working in baltimore then you don't want to live in annapolis. the commute will suck. Annapolis is nice but it is more yuppie than baltimore. depends on what you want. i'd say there is more diversity in and around baltimore. you can try looking into areas in baltimore county(the burbs)....towson, timonium, hunt valley, catonsville, white marsh, owings mills. all these places are about a 20-30 min commute to downtown baltimore. they also have enough social activities for someone your age. lots of restaurants and area bars. but if you want the dance scene you're gonna have to go downtown(but again it's an easy drive & everyone does it) try going to a website called citydata.com-it will give you some statistics on all these areas and more. good luck! and by the way, if you move to baltimore you're gonna have to convert to a Ravens fan!!

Annapolis is a beautiful city and you will like it. I don't know, however, how it would be if you are single. It's kind of a suburb with a lot of families. You might take a couple of weekends and look around the area before you move.

my roommate is getting back today (yeay!) from visiting her family in annapolis and she said that there is NOTHING to do, so if you are used to a fast paced lifestyle really check into it and see if you'll be comfortable with the change, she said she would never go live over there (we are from san diego so she's used to running around everywhere)... good luck!
