He is feeling guilty and is trying to buy her love by giving her anything she wants.
she has learned the process and will use it to her advantage.
If he spent more quality time with her, he wouldn't feel the need to over do it.
You won't tell him anything, this is his stuff and until he wakes up and smells the roses, nothing will change.

He is attempting to fill the void of hurt from the divorce, as there is probably much difficulty in accepting the "what I did to my children" syndrome when a parent thinks that they may have hurt them. It is a very natural reaction by a parent. Try and come to an agreement that is mutual in regards to what is and isn't purchased for her. We all hate to see our children cry. However, you need to continue with the boundries you have set and make sure to enforce them in your household. That way, it will back fire--and it will back fire for him only. There will be a day, when she will tantrum, scream kick and fight the whole situation that she is trying to control, and he will learn the hard way that he is the parent and she is the child, and he will have to fight to take control back. You have warned him and he obviously isn't going to listen, and doesn't realize that it is going to backfire TEN FOLD.

I would definitely show him that video that Jacksfull put a link to. How terrible that girl is...but she is a product of her parents. Tell your ex that a child that gets everything they want, when they want it, is actually not learning how to earn and respect what they have...including people. It's really such a disservice to kids. Reassure him that if he tells her "no" that she will not love him any less. Best wishes...

Your daughter has her dad wrapped around his little finger & she knows just how to manipulate her dad. I agree with you, one of these days, it'll all backfire in his face when he has to say "no." He's not doing her any good by spoiling her so much, but what you say doesn't matter to him but it will one of these days.

He's not doing her any favors by spoiling her. There may come a day when she'll expect him to give her something that he can't afford and he'll be the one crying when she jumps his case about it.
