Back in 1995 my Father who has already passed away bought a car from my Aunt's Boyfriend at that time(they are not together know but they did had a child that year). When my Father passed away in 02" he left the car for me to use for college and etc. Me, being in need of money and dumb at the time, I decided to sell the car in 2005. I sold the car to my Aunt's Husband. At $500. its a cheap car, but its a memory of my dad to me. He only paid me $150 in total, and that was back in summer of 05. Know that im requesting my car back after more than a year of me waiting on him to pay me, he says the only way for me to get the car back is if I pay him what He paid me. Wat can I do, to get my dads car back that I know want to fix and build up again?

Pay him $150. Next time don't sign over the title until he payes in full.

Give him the 150.00 back and be done with it, and move on. Technically, even if you took the car without giving him back the 150...there isn't any difference than repoing it. Its would be like me paying 10,000 on my Tahoe and them coming to get it. I don't get a refund, and really he shouldn't either.
But unless you want to make things particularly sticky...just give him back the 150.....smile, and go home. Gotta think about it too, when you give him the car, did you give him the title too? Because if he's got the title, there is little you can do to prove that he didn't pay you.

$150 isn't that bad. That's what he gave you and that's what you have to pay back. Give him the money or take it to small claims court and get the car back sense he didn't pay it off. It's your choice.
By the way, your aunt's ex isn't part of the family.
Hope that helps.

If title and registration have been transfered there is not much you can do. If you had a signed contract showing money owed you could go to small claims court. Since the car is not high value less than $1000, it would not be worth trying to sue for. It may be best to move on and have no more dealings with those people.

The cheapest way is to give him the $150. The most fun way would be to hire a repo man and get a video camera. Or take him to small claims court to get the $350 and buy yourself a nice watch to remind you of the time you had with your Dad

Well, if you gave him the title when it was not paid in full, then you can either pay him the $150 or not fix the car. This is your mistake for not making the terms of sale clear: You should have said when the balance was paid off they would get the title. Why are you blaming your family for your mistakes?

Take him to court and get your car back. Your have a verbal agreement for the $500.00 and he did not pay you the whole amount. He has been using your car for a year and only paid you $150.00 that is cheap rental fees.. Good Luck

you have three choices, pay him try to negotiate a price or go to court..not rocket science dude!
if you consider court try to have someone to back up that you agreed of $500 selling price...Lets
From where i am sitting $150 is a cheap lesson for you, if someone can't come up with 500 bucks to pay you at time of sale chances are good you will never see it.

Steal it back.
Legally, you still own it. You had a verbal agreement that he would pay you $500 not $150. Besides the fact it was a present from your dad to YOU!
If he has a problem with you "stealing" back what's rightfully yours, take him to court.
