Please, Please go into the Air Force. Army Recruiter is just trying to get you. Air force has the best quality of life, nicest bases/location & they provide better services allround. You can be a linguist in the AF as well & as long as you do your job you can promote just as fast. while in the AF you can pretty much get your BA for free & if you wanted you can go to OTS officer training school & become a commisioned officer. There are tons of benefits in the AF, as an AF spouse I use them everyday. my best friend was an Air traffic controller & opt to get out as a staff sgt & now she is making 55,000$ a year as a civilian ATC with no college degree. I love the AF. We are definitly the spoiled branch.
TO AF MOM I"M NOT PSYCHO I JUST DIDN"T GET KNOCKED UP 4 TIMES!

Listen to Minilover. I was an Air Force military brat and grew up around that living all over the world. Then I joined the Army and did 20 years. It was great and would not trade it for anything as I reached the top to the toughest job one could have in the Army.
Though both are great services and have exceptional people if I was to advise a son or daughter I would recommend the Air Force. People are generaly better educated and the quality of life is superior to all of the rest. And I will say with no doubt that women are treated better and get more opportunities.
There is no certainty that if you switched you would become a linguist. Army recruiters will tell you this and that and the intel or linguist thing is a standard line. Are you going to trust this kind of cheeseball?
And when it come down to it you could switch to the Army later if you want in 6 years. Say you take advantage of the more available education options that the Air Force offers. I would bet you would never go Army...... ever. All services have their role but again go Air Force.

Well, I used to say AF, but these days the Army is getting better and better, and yes, you do get promoted faster. Also, the Army is where lots of good AF careers are going, and they are starting to merge careers into "military" not just on branch or another. Plus, the AF is letting like 60,000 people leave in many ways, because they cannot afford to keep them anymore, and they are forcing retirements and kicking people out for getting in trouble once, instead of working with them...
And yes, Air Traffic Controllers make beaucoup bucks upon getting out because you can actually use that in the real world. I was a medic for 4 years and the best I can hope to get in a medical career until I get more schooling, is as a medical receptionist for like $25,000. So, not all careers can be used for $55,000 and I don't think a linguist is...

Of those two, Air Force.
(But everyone knows it is actually Navy ;-))
You can also be a linguist in the AF, promotion rates are about the same. Talk to someone in the programs, never go by a recruiter's version of promotion...

military by skill of a good distance. The Air stress basically makes use of roughly 2 pilots at a time of their jets. the army has lots of adult men on the front lines who're at greater desirable hazard of being shot or killed. i could say the army could have larger scientific corps.

First of all, none of them is better than the other...they both work together.
Yes in the Army you do get promoted much faster, but according to the tests and intelligence quota.
Going through basic training along with those tests are a measure of how you react and getting along with others in the baton and squad...following directions with the D.I.
All of this, it is a guide for your superiors in choosing rank.
Good luck.....

It depends on which you would rather go with. The Army does mostly ground or land work. The Air Force does mostly air work. Would you rather work on the ground or up in the air?
