See?! This is one of the things that keep people from actually being fit and healthy: we think that if it's fun, it can't possibly be good for you.
The truth of it is, ANY activity that gets your lungs and heart working is good for you and that includes playing kickball or dodgeball with the kids in the backyard, chasing kids up and down the playscape, tumbling on a mat with your toddler, pushing a lawnmower with the volume on your IPOD jacked up and making your husband take you out dancing.
It does not have to hurt to work.

Look at the physics involved. Whenever you move a mass, energy has to be spent. The larger the mass the more energy. The more movement the more energy. If you are working out on a trampoline, you are putting your body in motion. Now, some of the energy you spend is given back to you in form of the springs of the trampoline, however, you will still need to spend energy to maintain motion on the trampoline. A single jump does not last forever.
Now, look at the physical activity. Does your heartrate increase when you do the workout? Do you sweat or start more rapid breathing? These signs would indicate that you are getting a workout from the trampoline.
I would say that the trampoline would be a little less stressful on your joints than running. You can get better workouts from other activities but if this one is good for you then go for it. However, I would recommend some interval training. Mix the trampoline workout with some others and switch out on a schedule. Like do 5 minutes of trampoline, 1 minute of crunches, 5 minutes of trampoline, 1 minute of a dumbbell workout, 5 minutes of trampoline..........
Mix in some other workouts and you can really turn that trampoline workout into something that gets your heart pumping.
One more note. I have a friend who does tumbling and cheerleading. She told me that she hated the trampoline workouts they do the most because they are the ones that wear her out the fastest.

a trampoline is a great excercise i have a little one and a full size one. They are great excercise and you are not wasteing your time (besides there fun too). But just remember that you need many different workout for all parts of your body. If you only do one or two excersises than your body will see this as a regular motion and will burn less calories. Keep doing the trampoline but also do other stuff such as weights, running, any machine at a gym etc. Change your workout every couple of weeks.
Good luck!
PS you also want to make sure you are doing your trampoline correctly as you may not be doing to much good for you. if you just jummp up and down you will be excercising but there are more effecient ways to do it... talk to a trainer to see what he/she says.
PPS remember that before any excersise you need to strech. It will maximize the amount of calories you burn and your ability too do your excersise well!

anything you do that burns calories is good! but you do have to watch what you eat as well. if you follow up your trampoline time with a big mac and fries you aren't going to lose weight. it's not about dieting it's about healthy lifestyle choices.

hahahahahaha that was great. A trampoline hahaha... oh man that's a good one. Imagine if people really thought trampolines required some form of physical exertion? Yeah, you'd be wasting your time because it does half the work for you.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

As long as you are in constant motion for 30 minutes a day, for at least 3 days a week, you're good. Happy hopping!

No! But to lose weight you also need to be on a diet! If you are doing both, you should see some results.

Not really, but it could get boring really quick unless you learn some tricks. If it's big tramp, then make sure you have spotters so you don't break something.
