Any one whose actions, deeds and behaviour with others are good may be called as gentleman.

If you ask such questions people especially women will walk all over you.This world is a dog's world, gentlemanship does not work here. Be polite to others that is enough. But you should have the capacity to be rude too. If you just have a smiling face it is useless. Be powerful but when dealing with others be kind. But when situation arises be rough too. Otherwise the gentlemanship and kindness is useless. If you want to be a gentleman people will use you to their ends.
Once a lady colleague asked me for a pen. I said I dont carry a pen with me. Then she says that a gentleman should carry a pen.If I wanted to be a gentle man I should have run directly to a supermarket to buy a pen. Anything can be told to you with the tag of a gentleman.
