Any kind of caffeine (coffee, tea, soda, nuts, chocolate) can give you a headache if you are inclined to get migraines. A bad headache with nausea sounds like a migraine and some people, especially women, are inclined to migraines when they have hormonal fluctuations. In other words, coffee could not give you a headache at one part of your cycle and make you miserable at another.

Hope you feel better. If they keep coming, see a doctor and get migraine medication that works on the headache and the stomach upset.

Lots of people report having headaches when they stop using caffiene. I'm hooked on coffee, and I felt sick when I tried to give up once. I have migraine headaches with auras sometimes, and it goes away if I drink a cup of coffee and take an aspirin or Advil. (It takes a lot longer to go away if I just take the pain reliever and no coffee.)

I have heard that caffiene dilates the blood vessels in the brain and that's why some people get headaches when they stop using it.

I feel a little funny about being "addicted" to something, but I never had a doctor tell me it's hurting me in any way.

It's not the size of the cup of coffee, rather it is the cafeine amounts and the acid from the beans that cause the nausea and headache.
