we are going to queensland next month. can't wait! but we are still debating where to settle. so any advise would be greatly appreciated. we would like to open a small business and settle in a place that has no water restrictions hehe :) no more than a hour and half drive from brisbane(less the better) and with affordable housing(80k for a land would be ideal :D) and with a good young student or tourist pop. to support our small business(like a internet cafe), oh oh almost forgot we would love a beach near by as well :D
we are not asking too much are we ? :P

An hour and a half drive from the centre of Brisbane and you are barely half an hours drive from Brisbane at least when travelling north. The beaches are pretty muddy until you get well away from Moreton Bay. Caloundra might be the go but a house there will cost you a lot more than your 80k, whether in English pounds, Australian or American dollars. So it's mortgage time. Limiting yourself to a hour and a half from Brisbane is not necessarily a good idea. It is 1000 miles by rail to Cairns, a little more by road. Queensland is about three times the size of France and makes Texas look small.

Australia does need good roadside cafes though, the ones attached to petrol stations are usually pretty vile with nasty cheap instant coffee and greasy food drying out in bains marie. Get a tourist area - and go for the better quality end of the market.

Don't consider an internet cafe. Anywhere they are going to make any money has already got at least one. A cafe with a couple of machines is OK but don't rely on the internet to make your fortune, make your money from the cafe side of things.
