if it's the right decision to split up with someone? I love him more than anyone and we are really close, but on a technical side, we have diffreing views on money and ambition.
He has no drive or concern for money, but I do in the sense that i can't afford to pay for him all the time and i want a house etc
I think i'm living in a dreamland if I think we can make it work.

As you will soon learn....those are the two issues which hurt relationships most. Especially in males. They are the ones who tend to worry least about finances and goals. This is not true of all males.....but more are from males.
If you wish to live your dream with the right guy, then I would highly suggest that you set him down and let him know of life's concerns of being an adult. You cannot pay his way forever and let him be lazy (playing video games or running around with buddies or sit around reading sports magazines). Relationships are always a two way street and he needs to give some hope to a real future with you. Look at divorce statistics and you will see that the majority of the break ups stem from finances or lack of goals to make a better future. Don't become another stat if you do not open up his eyes on your future!

Love doesn't conqueror all...but I would really evaluate all aspects of the relationship before breaking-up...is he responsible in other areas of his life? is he caring and considerate? does he respect you? Make sure you have talked to him about your concerns...men are very bad at 'mindreading'
Maybe he's just in a slump...
