Our soul and spirit live in this mortal shell. It does not think, you do: You consist of a soul and spirit.

Of course we continue to think, because the body dies, we don't.

Jesus said, in heaven, we will know as we are known. In other words, we will recognize our friends, kids, parents, etc. To know them we have to have the ability to think.

The mind at all the thinking is now who we are.

Haven't you ever experienced times of awe when there was no thought? A beautiful landscape, a flower, a baby, a wonder of the world, a great piece of music, anything?

How about in crisis or when doing something dangerous?

There are periods in life when there is NO thought...how can you say we live a thinking existence?

Who we are is best experienced when we don't think.

I guess it's all point of view. I mean some people believe that when we die we go to heaven and we get to spend eternity talking with our loved ones that we have lost over the years. Some people believe we walk the earth as ghosts for whatever reasons. Maybe these are true. Maybe these are just ways people deal with the unknown. So maybe you don't have to imagine that suddenly it won't happen. Who knows? Just some food for thought.

Death is a state of nonexistence. Psalm 146:4 says that when we die, we go back to the ground; "In that day our thoughts do perish"

Ecclesiastes 9:5 says the dead are conscious of nothing at all.

Of course, when we are resurrected, we will be able to think, learn, remember and work, etc.

If you've ever had a general anaesthetic you will know that your consciousness effectively ceases to exist while you're 'under'. When you die, it will be like that, except permanent.

When we die; it is as if we are sleeping. When Jesus returns the Bible tells us we will remember our family and friends - in different words - I used my understanding. The Bible will have a better explaination and you can read the words and have your own conclusion.

We will just have to wait and see, no one now living can answer that question, and those who are already dead are NOT talking.

We will be thinking "damn why did I waste my life on worshipping a book" right before everything turns black.
