We are stopping at three ports and I plan on using the cash for the ports only. We were just going to use a charge card to pay off the ship balance at the end.

I have been on numerous cruises. One thing to keep in mind is what you plan to do in port. On the average figure in each port....

Excursions: $80-150 per person
Shopping: $50-200 per person
Jewel shopping: $250-500 per person
Dinning: $10-30 per person

Really: It all comes down to what you want to do in port. Remember, unless you're at an all-inclusive resort ... THE BOOZE AIN"T FREE!

Depending on how much you plan to buy at the ports, if you do any excursions that is all paid from your charge card on the boat so you only really need cash for gifts and if you eat food off of the ship. The only thing you need cash on the ship for is the casino. I have been on a few cruises and I don't usually bring more than three to five hundred, and I use most of it for the casino. I would pay for as much as you can with the card in the ports.

Depend the persons going with you. Taking tours on the islands cost around $20 to 25 dollars por person . If you want to buy something. Also in the cruise are ATM machine. Around $500 to 700 dollars in cash better more than less.

I would use travelers checks,or credit or debit card. carrying much cash is asking for trouble if it is seen by many others.
