I was really wanting a food processor awhile back so my mom gave me this large real nice one. But now that I have it, I'm not sure what I am supposed to use it for (other than cutting up vegs for a salad).

Did she give you the owners manual? it will have lots of recipes. You can use it to chop anything you like, nuts or veggies. I use mine for making breadcrumbs and stuff. you can use it to make pie crust, salad dressing, pasta sauce, etc. Pretty much anything you want to mix and smooth. I would experiment with the different blades and see what you like.

This recipe is so good and uses a food processor. If you don't like artichokes, substitute something else. I also ude mine to chop nuts, make salsa, puree fruits for breads (banana, etc.), and puree vegetables for cream soups.

Enjoy!

Artichoke Filled Chicken Rolls

1 – 9 oz package frozen artichoke hearts, thawed
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
¼ cup mayonnaise (or ranch dressing)
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tbs fresh basil, minced
6 boneless chicken breast, pounded flat
salt
pepper
6 thin slices ham
3 tbs olive oil
3 tbs butter or margarine

Place first 5 ingredients in food processor and puree until fairly smooth. Reserve.

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Top each breast with a slice of ham and spread a thin layer of artichoke mixture on top of the ham. Roll up and secure lengthwise with toothpick or tie crosswise in several places with un-waxed dental floss.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken rolls and cook, turning frequently until brown. Transfer to a shallow baking dish and bake for 25 minutes. Remove string and slice at an angle. Serves 6 (10-12 as an appetizer).

Sauces, soups, smoothies, pesto,

I roast tomatoes, onions, carrots, garlic and red peppers in the oven and then process it to make a soup.

Process basil, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and olive oil for a red pesto sauce..

A whole bunch of fruit for a smoothie or a topping on ice cream.

You could chop up nuts and chocolate pieces for a dessert recipe.

You can put in pretty much everything and usually the manufacturer of the processor have recipes on their website or instruction manual in which you use the processor.

Salsa, Grate Cheese, Sorbe't, O my goodnes there are soo many things. I even made cream cheese mint batter using the food processor and then I shaped the stuff into the molds.

I also used it one time when the kids wanted snow cones. I put the cheese grater in it and put in the ice and it made fluffy shaved ice. The kids loved it!!!

Salsa

1 large can whole peeled tomatoes
1 red onion
2 green onions
1 garlic clove
juice of one lemon
handful of fresh cilantro
oregano, salt, pepper
jalepeno or pequins (chili)

I do a quick chop of my onions/garlic first then I add the rest of the stuff and do it again (that way they're not so chunky)

My mum has had one for years. She used to make bread in it as it kneads very fast. She now makes cakes in it, grinds nuts, anything that she wants chopping or mixing, she uses it. She makes batches of Salsa in it too. I buy cherry tomatoes and whizz them up, its tastes much better than tinned.

Jamie Oliver recommends chopping onions in it, to make a curry sauce base, it stops you from crying!

Try making things like hummus, dips or mayo to go with your chopped salads and then a home made cake.

I use mine for many MANY things.... I rarely use a blender for the blender I have is a joke and accomplishes nothing.

I use my processor in making cheesecake and its crust,
grinding meats for tacos,
chopping veggies,
crushing cookies for crusts,
making pie dough,
making pasta dough,
making purees,
making pesto,
crushing potato chips for crusty toppings on casseroles,
for making meat loaf, we like it very fine textured.

I could go on and on... I use mine almost every day. I should be a product tester for I go through a processor about every other year... I have yet to find one that can keep up with me and my demands.

: )

Oh my, where to start? I use mine for veggies, salsa, hummus, dough for tortillas, pureeing tomatoes for chili, pureeing thick soups like chowders or split pea soup, pesto, you name it. I can barely keep it clean. As soon as it is, I use it again! Which is probably about 3-4 times a week. I love it.

I usually just make baby food in mine and sometimes salsa and smoothies. There are a ton of things you can make. Just get creative.
