Hi everyone, I've got three rings that I need to insure for about £4,000, £5,000 and £6,000 - I wear them all day, every day. Does anyone know of any company that just insures rings or jewellery?? I've been surfing and can't get any joy at all! Please help, if you can! Thanks xx

Your own Home insurance should suffice, you may/will need to provide photogrphs and a proper valuation, ask for all risks cover whilstoutside the property etc.

If that is a no go , then drop in to any high street jewellers, they all sell policies for this contingency.

Contact a broker (just check the Yellow Pages for a local broker) and ask about a valuables policy

The rates are usually cheaper than home insurance and they can shop around to get you a good deal.

Make sure the broker is independent and not "tied" (if they're tied, they will only quote you from a single or small group of insurance companies)

In the UK your house insurance usually will cover as part of contents items up to a value between £1500 to £3,000. Depends on the insurer as to what maxium they allow... and whether your items would be covered outside home (some insurers will).

However I realise that even upper cover won't fully cover replacement value in your case. You can then ask house insurer to give you a quote for specific items.. (my Mum got her Grand Piano insured this way for value of £6,000 - however she chose not to renew the extra cover this year as it was like an extra £120 pa for that one extra item... and i talked her out of it... its not gonna be first item a thief would want to steal and fire risk is minimal)

Alternatively try a broker such as these: http://www.tailoredinsurance.com/fine-art-and-antiques
