What class misdermeanor is public intoxication? How long does it stay on your record?

In Texas it is a Class C.

A Class C Misdemeanor is the same as a traffic violation. It is the lowest class of crime there is.

From lowest to highest is

Class C Misdemeanor
Class B Misdemeanor
Class A Misdemeanor
State Jail Felony
Third Degree Felony
Second Degree Felony
First Degree Felony
Capitol

However if Convicted 3 or more times, the charge for PI could be higher.

It depends on the local and State laws where the offense happened. It is generally a very low level misdemeanor or even just a violation. A violation is a lesser offense, similar to a moving violation when driving.

It all depends on the state you live in. In Indiana, it is a class B misdemeanor. Generally, you get a night in jail to sober up and a fine. It stays on your record for life.

It is not a misd. It is a violation and usually handled with a universal summons if the subject can be properly identified.

It's not a misdemeanor, P.I. is a violation. It'll stay on your record unless & until you have it expunged.
