Every night, my mom forces my cat to sleep outside and its very cold outside. She (my cat) has been sneezing lately. However, when I let my cat sleep inside, she poops in the bathroom and my mom hates that. Her litter box is clean. What should I do?

It's so nice of you to try to help your cat.
Move the litterbox to the bathoom. Your cat seems to like it there, and it will keep smell away from living area and food.

If you catch her doing it on the floor, place the poo inside the tray, so that she will smell it and understand that's where you want it to be!

Also, if you see her doing it there, lift her up and put her in the tray, so that she will finish doing it in the tray.

If she goes in the tray praise her and give her a treat and affection. If she goes outside the tray don't scream at her: it doesn't work that way. Patience is rewarded with cats.

Also, you may want to try a different litter as some cats are funny that way.

Good luck, keep trying! You're a very nice person.

The best thing I found to do is place a litter box in the bathroom as this is where she feels safe. Once she has used it, move the litter box a bit closer to where you want the litter box to be, and keep doing this untill the correct location is achieved.

Good luck x

I would give your cat a choice of different cat litters (most like finer litter), and different depths of litter. When cats have a litter tray but don't use it it is often down to then just not liking the feel of the litter, they also don't tend to like litter trays that are lined with paper, so if you use any then I would try without. Also try offering her more than one tray, they sometimes like to poo in one and wee in another.

Really hope you find a solution so that your cat can come in at night.

PS. I would just like to say, in reply to some of the above comments, that cats, and other pets, are not spiteful, they don't think like that, there is AWAYS a good reason for the behaviours they perform, just have to look harder.

I have a cat who wee,s in the bath even though the cat litter tray is clean, fortunately its in the bath so very easy to clean up. I would recommend you keep the bathroom door closed, if not try putting her litter tray in the bathroom. Good luck A

personally i think its very cruel to force your cat to sleep outside, especially at this time of year. Would you like to sleep outside in this freezin weather. I don't blame your cat for being angry (pooping in the bathroom is obviously the way she is showing she's angry). I would REALLY try to persuade your mum to let the cat sleep inside and i reckon the problem of pooping in the bathroom would stop after your cat spends a while indoors.

Sneek your cat into your bedroom. Put newspapers all over your floor. Then lock your bedroom. In the morning before your mom wakes up take your cat outside. She’ll never know. Try it. It worked with my mom.
