Cloe, what kind of parties have you been to where someone fills a barrel with water, pours some into a cup and it is instantly the greatest wine anyone has ever tasted? Don't give me this neat party trick stuff. He did it so the host of the wedding would not be embarrassed. He did not do it to show off and impress anyone. You should really understand things before making very lame jokes, otherwise people might think that you are the joke.
May God Bless you.

Guess it is funny if you think that is what and how He was asked.
He could have just thought the water into wine with a blink of an eye - that would be pretty clever I would think.
Of course any mortal can make water into wine with the use of fruits, sugar and yeast too but it can take a few weeks before it has brewed, then again man couldn't even do that if the items were not already provided for his needs.
Nature is pretty neat too - Thanks Pop
Thanks too for the opportunity to educate a mere mortal

He turned water into wine. There were no grapes, just water. And it happen instantly. And it was good wine. We know good wine has to ferment for years.
"the director of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him: "Every other man puts out the fine wine first, and when people are intoxicated, the inferior. You have reserved the fine wine until now." John 2:10
This was just his first miracle..the least important one...raising the dead the most important. No one today has been able to even do the small miracle of turning water into wine.

Hey I want the ability to do that party trick.. imagine how much money one could make at that.
I just don't get the purpose of it, spiritually anyway.. he did it for a wedding because they ran out of wine.. and this is considered a miracle?
Notice also, that he didn't want anyone to know about it. So, this whole proving that he was god idea doesn't work either.

The act of turning water into wine is considered the first of seven miracles attributed to Jesus Christ, according to the Gospel of John.
In Christian theology, it is considered the first sign of Jesus divinity. For believers, there are several metaphors that are appropriately considered in relation to not only the divinity of Christ, but marriage and saving the best wine for last.
It's good that you're asking questions. If you're serious about your curiosity, there are many resources for you to reference starting with the Gospels and possibly the advice of a local pastor.

Can you do it? Jesus did miracles to show people that He was the Son of God so they'd believe in Him and listen to Him. He didn't do anything to show off or for a party trick. He never did anything for show. Everything He did had a purpose. He did a lot more amazing things than turn water into wine!!! That was no big deal compared to raising the dead, healing the lame, making the blind to see, etc., etc.

Back when Jesus was alive, good drinking water was harder to find than it is today. There were no city water systems. Water that was around where people lived was not clean. People drank wine instead because it was sterile and because you could keep it for an extended period of time and it would stay drinkable. I have heard that the alcohol content in wine back then was much lower.

funny? Can you make water turn into wine without adding anything to the water and without touching the water? Just will a prayer to God? No, you can't. Jesus performed miracles to show that He is the Son of God. And wine was the only alcoholic drink back then. It was drank at weddings and other feasts. People didn't get drunk because the Isrealites knew that drunkenness is a sin.

The wine is a symbol of the divine blood. Dionysus was the Greek god of ecstasy who represents not only the intoxicating power of wine, but also its social and beneficial influences. He led people to religious ecstasy using wild orgies in the forests
