Ha ha. The tables have been turned. The Christians (who answered) are now saying that Harry Potter is a fictional character and not even worth comparing to Jesus Christ. Well, for once, I agree. The thing is, where were they with this argument when all of the Rapture Righties were claiming that the books (Harry Potter) were all of the devil and taught witchcraft and wizardry and would warp the minds of our precious little children?
Moses was quite the magician...
Numbers 21:8-9 The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived. (NIV)

Why doesn't an apple taste like an orange? Uhhh.... what's the phrase I'm thinking of... oh yeah... they're completely different.

You are comparing movie characters to Jesus Christ, who has documented miracles under His belt. Now, if you had someone similar to, let's say, Harry Potter. Where would they claim their powers come from? Probably from themself or some other god or something. Jesus always gave credit to God. That would be the difference. Now if God judges sin, and He considers the worship of other gods (self included) a sin, then that's what makes it a sin. It isn't hypocrisy. Hypocrisy would be doing the opposite of what you say. This obviously is not the case here.

I don't understand why people think that way. Harry Potter and Gandalf are figments of an imagination. However, what some people people may view it as these characters trying to imitate Jesus. I don't why people can't just enjoy the Harry Potter books as something to read. Nothing more nothing less.

What Jesus did was not alchemy. What Jesus did was a miracle and CANNOT be reproduced. If it was alchemy, we would have figured out how to do it by now. Heck, if we can figure out how to clone, design drugs to do nearly anything we want (about as close to alchemy as we will ever get) and things like that, we would have long ago figured out the water to wine thing.

Harry Pooter was written specifically to anger the parents of good Christian folks- a further act of oppression and persecution to hold the Christian people back by making their children angry at God. Gandalf was really J.R.R. Tolken's version of Lucifer and should have been written out of the LOTR, just like Jesus's wife was omitted- can't have our savior fornicating and showing some signs of pleasure....

HA
