Hello. The answer is NO. What the doctors should do is slowly taper you off your medications before your first trimester. You will not be allowed to take meds then, they cause birth defects. If your moods get bad, they will hospitalize you and perhaps give you ECT.
Once the baby is born, you can go back on your meds, but you cannot breast feed. All Bipolar meds come out in the breast milk, so your baby will have to be on formula.
It is hard. But finding the right doctor will help.

You will definately need to talk to a doctor to find out for sure. I know one of the meds I take has a warning against breast feeding while taking, so I think being pregnant would be the same issue. There may be some other meds you can take while pregnant, just call your physician.

That would be a question only an/your ob-gyn can answer. Some of those drugs can be harmful to your baby while in utero. Meaning while you are carrying the baby in your tummy. I have also heard that sometimes the pregnancy hormones do help with the symptoms of depression. But, again, that would be something that only your doc could answer for you.
