It always happens to me if I do a full on class after not exercising for a while and the next day or two afterwards can be even worse. The achiness is your body's way of telling you that you have overdone it and to take it easy. The best thing to do is to gently try and stretch the ache off. If you can't do that now, leave it a day and try again, when you are able to stretch and it helps, you will be OK to do some more exercise, otherwise you might end up pulling something. Do keep going, though, and you won't ache nearly as much next time and the time after that you probably won't ache at all.
Above all, though, when you go to your next class, don't try and keep up with everyone else, try and take it a bit easier until your fitness levels improve. No-one will notice / care if you do the 'easy' option (most instructors will give an easy and advance alternative to moves in a class).
I have heard (but not tried) that an ice bath after exercise stops the inflamation and prevents the aches the day after, but personally I much prefer a shower.

Take some pain killers give the most painful areas a rub and do some gentle I mean gentle stretching and toning exercises this will help ease the pain. When you are not in agony do your workout class but take it slow have breaks until about the second week then try a bit harder and so on until your body is used to the exercise again. Try swimming in the mean time as well.

All your agony and problems will be solved by doing the following yogic exercises everyday and do it confidence.:-
1. Arathamathesendrasan (reduces the folds on the side)
2. bhujangasan ( reduces the fat & creases on the back)
3. halasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
4. dhanurasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
5. sarvangasan ( controls the whole body to perfection)
6. mathsyasan ( increases the chest & reduces the stomach)
7. nauli kriya ( the best for stomach)
8. mayurasan ( very difficult but best for the belly )
9. bhastrika pranayanam ( breathing exercise, very best and must as this controls BP, prevent lung diseases, increases the brain power, will never get cough or cold and controls your anger and other violent emotions, brings in crimson complextion to the face etc, etc)
10. sevasan. ( This is the last exercise and this removes all the stress and strain of all the above exercises )
Do all these exercises every day in the morning before breakfast and after nature calls because both your stomach & intestines should be empty while you do this . Do it regularly for 1 month with confidence and see the magic.

By all means, exercise! But not as hard as you did last time. Using the sore muscles gently helps relieve the soreness. Potassium can be helpful too, so try having a banana after your workout. And keep stretching, even on days you don't work out, since it keeps the muscles flexible, and flushes out the lactic acid that causes the soreness.

Moist heat will help like no other. Get a rice bag or make one out of a tube sock, heat in microwave for 2 1/2 min and put on area that hurts. Keep reheating and putting it on other places that hurt.
Go back to exercising and just take it easy for a while. Cut your time in half until you feel better.....

If this is muscular try using a combination of co-codamol and ibuprofen 1st one for the pain and 2nd for the swelling. Do some gentle exercise, once the pain is more bareable, like swimming before you go into a more vigarous routine.

I doubt it's agony too unless you have injured yourself.
If it is simple muscle strain then i'm sure a relaxing bath and soem pain killers (if needed) would do the trick.
If it truly is "agony" then go to see your doctor as that doesn't sound normal.

I'm a nurse. Your pain will diminish once you workout again. It sounds silly but you have to work through the pain. Take ibuprofen for the discomfort, it works the best. Any OTC generic pain reliever will work. You could see a doctor for a muscle relaxant or go to the herbal store for one. Take care and you are on your way to better health, all the best.

Let your body recover in its own good time, and next time, work up gradually, until you can manage a full session. Try having a warm shower before and after, as well as stretching.

No pain no gain as they say. Dont try and cram too much in to your routine. Take it very slowly and build up a little each time you excercise.
