HI!!
The truth is that Pinto Beans are a kind of bean and is called Pinto or mottled beans

The pinto bean (Spanish: frijol pinto, literally "painted bean") is named for its mottled skin (compare pinto horse), hence it is a type of mottled bean.

It is the most common bean in the United States and northwestern Mexico , and is most often eaten whole in broth or mashed and refried. Either whole or mashed, it is a common filling for burritos. The young pods may also be used as green beans.

In the Southwest United States, the pinto bean is an important symbol of regional identity, especially among Mexican Americans. Along with the chile, it is one of the official state vegetables of New Mexico (under the name frijol). Pinto bean varieties include:

Sierra, Burke, Othello & Maverick

Are Pinto Beans A Vegetable

Well of course they are a veggie! They grow in crops. Meats are animals. No way, no how could a pinto bean be considered a meat. It has protein like meat, but cannot be considered meat at all. Pinto beans are a very important part of my vegetarian diet. The people at weight watchers need to get a serious clue! If you plant something in the ground, and it grows, its a veggie. If it has a beating heart and is slaughtered, its a meat. Period

Pinto beans are in the meat group of the food pyramid, however, for future reference anything that grows above the ground is considered a fruit, below the ground it is a vegetable. As for the people at Weight Watchers the pinto bean is a good source of protein as well as an excellent source of fiber.

no- not a vegetable- a bean! But I think it is a healthier and safer alternative to meat. DEtermining whether something is a fruit or a vegetable is usly based in the growth process. And when looking at that- Pinto beans are neither a fruit or a vegetable but the nutritional value is most comparable to a meat. THey say that vegetarians- since they dont eat meat- shoiuld eat lots of nuts and beans to replace the nutrients that meat would have given them

That depends on what about kidney beans makes her unable to eat them. If it was just a matter of not having kidney beans on hand, I would suggest pinto beans, but chances are she can't eat those either. If she can't eat specifically beans, I would try chick peas or brown lentils. If she can't eat pulses in general maybe something like corn kernels. Edit: good grief, someone suggests quiche Lorraine? Seriously? Pastry, cream, eggs and bacon are hardly light or easy to digest!

Pinto beans a legumes. They are vegetable as opposed to animal. They are not vegetables or fruits.

Since beans come from plants, they can be considered a vegetable (though "vegetable" is a subjective term used in cooking). Meat refers to the flesh or tissue of animals. Specifically, beans are legumes--or seeded pods.
