This isn't my first one so usually I know better but I never missed a wash with my others. My tattoo is almost a week old (began scabbing already) and I rushed out of the house this morning completely forgetting to wash it. I didn't worry about it though because I figured I could just wash it at work. Well I guess I never really realized it but we only have scented antibacterial soaps. I know I'm not supposed to use a scented one because the scent can irritate the tattoo so basically what I'm wondering is: should I risk it and wash it with the scented soap OR do I just put some lotion on it and just skip the morning wash and not worry about it? I've never had a tattoo infected before and I'm not about to start with this one.

My artist recommends washing it twice a day for the first week. Since I've always gone to her and done what she's recommended I've never had problems. I'm just paranoid cause I've seen friends with infected tatts and it ain't pretty and I don't want that to happen to me, I'm not saying it WILL but when it comes to my ink, I don't want problems.

i don't wash my fresh tattoos first thing in the morning after the first three or four days. i usually wash them twice a day after the initial days just whenever i think about it. i would just skip the wash but that's just me.

i used dial and it was fine. i have a question for you though, if its a week old, aren't you past the stage of needing it to be washed with that? i know each place is different but when i got mine done, i HAD to wash it for 3 days no matter what and then after that, it was when i did. i kept doing it, but they way they explained it is that there are stages and i think according to where i got mine, you're in the stage that you just need to keep it moist. thats the most important thing, so if you have what you use on it like the goo or a&d, put that on...

Antibacterial isn't good to use on anything. It kills bacterias that can help you, and it lowers your immune system..
Just use a regular unscented soap. Dove white is a good one.. And then put petroleum jelly on it... it will keep your skin from drying out..
