for six days I had a sore throat. Thinking I was married to It by now, I filed for divorce. Unfortunatly it was granted half of everything. I woke up yesterday morning to find that he had moved out but took half my voice with em. Darn sore throat. I feel fine and don't have a sore throat but why am I left with a sqeeky voice. How long will this last and what can I do to help it. I have no insurance and can't afford a doctor this week so seeing a doc is out for now. Wanting to hear from people who have lost their voice before and see what caused it for them, how long it lasted and what did they do to help it?
Thank you

Try gargling with warm salt water several times a day and see if it helps & drink lots of water to keep your throat moist & cleansed. Also - go to the health food store and pick up an immune booster to help fight any germs you have stored in there - Oregano is a good one (the oil is hard to take but would absorb faster - when they say 5 drops in 1oz. of juice then toss it back like a shot - believe me that's the only way to deal with it. I tried it in a glass of juice one day & couldn't get it down).

You should never have a sore throat longer than 3 days without having it checked as it could be tonisilitis or strep which can lead to complications. Did you have a fever with it ? Not a good thing if you did. The trouble with strep throat is that it can be sore for a bit then go away then come back, so just pay attention to what's happening to your body & if a fever develps then you really need to see a doctor.

Your throat is probably still sore, but just not painful or irritated anymore.
Your voice comes from the fact that you have this fold along our windpipe that allows air to be converted into sound. Pretty much like an instrument.
Right now, your folds are probably still too sore to be allow air to be converted to sound, just like a non musical person will find it impossible to produce any sound from a flute.
Just drink lots of water.
You don't really need to see a doctor anyway. Just take lots of water and get some strepstils. It'll work like lozengers.
