I am a size 14 (UK) 5ft 6 woman. About a week ago I decided to exercise more and eat super healthily in an effort to drop a couple of dress sizes. Before that I'd been going to the gym 3 times a week for about 2 months and have lost about 10lbs.

At the beginning of last week I started a new job and walk here 40 mins in the morning (uphill) and then either go to the gym and do cardio for 45 mins in the evenings or walk back from work. I am eating healthily, but not starving myself- ceral or wholewheat toast for breakfast, salad or a low fat sarnie for lunch and chicken or fish with veggies for dinner. I snack on fruit if I'm hungry and I'm drinking lots of water.

I am losing a lb a day! Since last Thursday I've lost 7lbs. I'm shocked. Is it just the exercise thats making it come off so fast? I always eat when I'm hungry, but I'm worried I might be doing myself some damage!!!!

No, your doing great. As long as you keep eating healthy. Your weight Willl plateau soon and you will stop losing a pound a day it may be just 1-2lb a week. Keep it up though and keep eating healthy, and don't worry when you stop loosing weight at the current levels. It's your body loosing the excess at the moment and once it has done that you wil not loose as much. Also varying your exercise regime when this happens is a good idea. Your body will get used to the routine you put it through and varying it will help loose weight on other parts of your body and get you all round fitter. Good luck and keep it up.

1lb a day is pretty quick. However if you are eating well and showing no other signs of illness, and provided you don't become underweight I don't think you should worry excessively at this stage. It will probably slow down in the next week or so once your body has got used to all the exercise.

congratulations on the lifestyle change, I know loads of people who'd love to lose weight that fast.

It sounds fine to me ,this is your first week and it is usual to lose more the first week on a new work out .losing ten pounds over two months is fine I think next week you might find you don't lose weight ,it might settle down as seven pounds every week would be much to much it should not be more than two pounds a week. Keep your diet healthy and don't go under 1200 cals a day .

You'll drop a lot the first week or two. So, it's probably nothing to worry about. If you're still losing this fast in two or three weeks, then yes, that would be too fast, but for the first two weeks, it's okay.

Sometimes all it takes is a small change in your routine to perk up your weight loss - in your case I would say it's all the walking you've been doing! Carry on, good job.

Nope, you are not losing weight too fast, because you are doing it in a healthy manner. So just as long as you keep eating healthy enough to work out, then you have nothing to worry about.

good luck sounds like its going well...though it won't go on like this every week i think. I was in similar situation after first week lost & for the weeks after i only lost 2-3lbs this was a let down at first but it is healthy amount, maybe your body isn't so use to it all yet and it has had this effect at first -if you worried ask your doc...

Well you seem to be eating well and are taking excercise and drinking plenty of water.

Saying that these health people do recomend losing 1-2 ibls a week.
I think that way it is harder to put back on.

Good luck to you.

Sounds like your doing everything right. Make sure that you keep lean protein in your diet. There will be a time when you reach your goal and yell hurray!!! I'm very happy for you. Keep up the good work.
