You get them at the post office - bring along a passport photo your passport and another form of ID just incase as they produce them there and then

Generally speaking a full UK driving licence is accepted pretty much anywhere within the EU and beyond for normal purposes of hiring a car on holiday. International Driving Permits such as they are are generally only 'recommended' rather than a necessity, except for some of the more exotic holiday destinations. The AA and RAC used to dish out these documents to their members travelling abroad, but the need to have one is almost non-existant for most of us these days since we entered into harmony with the EU on driving licence designs. If you really wanted one, I'd suggest either a main Post Office or applying at the AA website, but I'd check first for where you plan on going otherwise you're just throwing money away on something you don't need!

Your ordinary Full UK driving licence should be perfectly fine to drive around the World...I have hired cars and drove in Europe Canada ...etc.. with no problems.. if you are a UK citizen you probably wont experience any grief about your licence abroad..

forget appropriate to the international driving force's license. that's valueless different than in some international places it facilitates with vehicle condominium. She could have a driving force's license from the united kingdom which she could use to validate her driving checklist. you are not getting a international license without first having a license issued by potential of a few government.
