Some awesome scenes, but dragged out too much... Im sure they could have done it in 2 movies, and saved me money, but I guess thats how they make money, drag it out, so it makes 3.

Apart from the Boring Dragged out Bits... I rather liked the movie.

Its very biblical in that its based on legends and mythology, Tolkien was a devout catholic and the idea that the good must destroy the evil is a simplistic view of the world which still pervades political thinking even today. White must win over black because its 'better' but they are really in a secret conspiracy, they need each other or else there is no story to be told.

He wandered from the main story a little bit. He might cram in 2 or 3 pages (and a poem) about an ancient battle, just because Etheround the Fair's name was dropped and he wanted to tell you all about that. Sometimes, it got a little bit tedious wading thru that.

Mind you, I've read it 3 times. But...you asked.

I can't criticize the story. It's a fable, the books are a good read and the movies are very well done. I enjoyed them all!

a little disappointed in the third movie since they hacked it to bits, but still a good movie.

the books are so much better. like laptop i've read them several times.
i love the struggle between good and evil. i think that tolkien was a creative genius. inventing a whole universe, language and all, could not have been easy.

I heard that this book was written by a good Christian. It talks about many symbolisms. It talks about how greed can destroy people and make them change their personalities. It talks about the struggle between good and evil in each one of us. I think it was a good story. It makes me hate greed and see how awful it is. The characters were nice. They showed heroic virtues and heroism. Some good characters showed that a good heart can overcome greed and not be corrupted by it. I think a good study of the book by the experts is highly recommended. I saw one expert talk about it in EWTN. Unfortunately, I didn't see the rest of his explanation. I think he knew what he was talking about. He said Tolkien was a good writer.

I liked it.

I never noticed any religious connection, but I have been told Tolkein was Catholic and put lots of Catholic symbols and concepts into the stories.
