Inadequate iron could cause hair loss, but so can many other things. You will need to see a doctor, and give them specific reasons/evidence why you feel your hair is falling out more than normal. If when you put your hair in a ponytail it feels thinner, that is a good indicator. If you find clumps of hair, that's a good one to say as well. There is a good article on it at the mayo clinic site, might be worth a read.

There are SO many reasons for hair loss. Mine ended up being an under-active thyroid. See your doctor, a simple blood test tells so much.
