Why do smokers feel it is ok to throw their cigerette butts out the window when driving or onto the sidewalk when they are done?

That's a good question. It basically littering and is deplorable. Just because a person wishes to poison his or her lungs doesn't give them the right to foul up the planet by tossing their 'butts' to the roadside for the rest of us to deal with. A unique judge in Alabama has a pretty cool way of dealing with this though. Anyone caught ends up doing duty cleaning on the road crew for up to two weeks of service for the first offense and it increases with each subsequent offense. But by the fourth time your no longer get the stick with the little point on the end and have to use your bare hands. Wish we had more judges like that around this country.

I don't think some smokers believe that the butts are trash. My neighbour throws them all over our shared driveway, but never tosses out any other kind of garbage. Personally I think the butts littered sidewalks outside of shopping malls etc. are gross.
(not all smokers do this though, I have met many who put them in the right places)

I believe that smokers feel like their cigarette butts will disintegrate. This is not true. In Santa Maria, the only LEGAL things to litter are water and chicken feathers. I believe it should be like this all around the world!

I shouldn't admit this probably, but one day I was driving to Texas and this guy in front of me threw out a cigarette butt and it about hit my car. So I got alongside him and threw something out my window that about hit his car. He backed way off and never would catch up with me. I'm thinking now he'll ponder what he does, instead of just doing it!

They are litterbugs. I used to do that when I smoked. Now that I have quit I can see how disgusting the habit is. Pick up your butts!

I love seeing the look on peoples faces when ever I stop them for doing this and giving them a $200 fine,,,,its awesome.....

face it they are not bright, look they smoke tobacco,it is a shame noone throw roaches out the window like that.
