I'm having a new hardwood floor installed in my kitchen, same color as my cabinets--light oak and have gray counter tops. I'm not sure what to do with the kitchen walls. We have a sitting room off the kitchen that is light yellow and the dining room is green with a light wood panel on the bottom. What would be the best way to tie all the rooms together and still give the room a homey feel?

I think it would be easiest to change your countertops, but that's me.

Some ideas:
roycroft copper red for drama or a goldenrod yellow for warmth. A pumpkin orange for something more eclectic would make the oak really stand out. If you go with a blue go for something more robins egg blue, but I warn you that it will make the room feel cooler.

I like using the Sherwin Willaims paint color visualizer online b/c there are a lot of diff't scenarios that you can view for your area.

I think a pop of color would be a nice contrast to the wood and Grey, Terracotta or a rich Burgundy will go well with your kitchen and also compliment the green and yellow of your other rooms.

I'd reccomend a warm off white, as opposed to a stark white which may look bland against the grey and wash the room out...

However I'd warn against a specific colour, else a)you'll be constantly trying to match things to it, b) if you ever go to sell the house and the kitchen is a "colour" rather than a neutral, people see that as something they'd have to "change" to suit them... c) off whites are nice in all seasons, and give a nice warmth to the kitchen, without feeling roasting in summer.

Good luck, and remember, even if you choose a neutral, you can always dress it up with coloured teatowels or appliances and decorations :)

We just did a yellow on yellow. Lighter walls with slightly darker woodworking. We have pale red counter tops and it works well.Today we start on the new Parquet flooring. I would say it looks really nice even with the muted red so I guess it will be great with gray.

as i was reading your question a salmon color popped into my mind, would go great with the light yellow and the green, you could accent it with a border, or stenciling using the light yellow, green and a deeper terra cotta orange..i would use some copper color for accent too..
sounds pretty..

What fairly concerns is what hues you like. in my opinion i might paint my kitchen orange or yellow if i could, yet I lease and we're not allowed to color! i think of in a kitchen you're able to get away with especially much any coloration, yet consistent with what you mentioned approximately yours i might advise a delicate blue or crimson, because of the fact cool hues will bypass nicely with the immaculate-steel and grey. in spite of the reality that, in case you dare, you're able to bypass with pink, because of the fact it is going nicely with silver, yet not all human beings could pull that off, and you are going to be able to fall sick of it speedy. i might advise you bypass to the ironmongery shop and get some paint samples and look on the brochures they have with pictures and strategies. oftentimes you are able to take as lots of the samples as you like, so take then abode and notice how they look on your kitchen. in case you are able to not %. from that, you ought to purchase a small pattern length can of paint interior the colours you're determining between, and consider out portray a small element of your wall which will assist you compromise on. good success, and undergo in strategies, in case you finally finally end up not liking it you are able to consistently paint over until you detect something you like!

I suggest a warm red. I did it and I love it. My living room is jade my kitchenette is cream. It looks warm and the red compliments the green of my living room. Not a harsh red but a burnished red with hints of brown in it.
