LOL my son wouldn't go poo poo in the potty either. It's still a family joke with us. He is now 14. He would stand in the corner of my neighbors garden and poo poo in his pull up and point his finger and say git when I would tell him sit on the potty. He wanted privacy also lol. Anyways "they" say that kids sometimes associate it with part of their bodies and are thinking that they are losing a part of their bodies. Like a lot of the others on here are saying, they do get over it. I would really let it go. Continue encouraging him like you have but I wouldn't let it bother me.

Pay attention to his schedule for pooping, if they are regular they must be put on the potty at the time that they normally go. You really just need to catch the poop in the potty one good time and then praise and fuss over it like the kid discovered America. Let them look at it when this happens and tell them this is where your poop is supposed to go. Also make it fun while they are on the potty, make up a song about going to the potty. I used to sing this , Oh we pee pee and boo boo in the potty. Make up your own melody and throw their name in the song from time to time. One more suggestion is that while they are on the potty, read them a story from a book about children going to the potty, they do have children books about going to the potty. Good luck to you. These suggestions should work along with the child making up his mind.

This is very common. Don't worry..he will go eventually. My daughter used to put on a pull up to poop instead of the potty even though she usually wore underwear and used the potty to pee. She outgrew it in a few months.

Ours is the same way. He was really constipated and his bm's really hurt so he is very reluctant to try anything other than hiding in a closet, alone where he can grunt in peace. We've alleviated the constipation but I can tell he's still scared to go because it hurt so much before.
Son't worry like the old saying goes...there's never been a kid that has gone to school in diapers.

When it happens it will happen.

Neither will my 3-yr-old. I have officially quit stressing over it. He won't be the only one in kindergarten who won't use the potty. He has done it a couple of times, but for some reason he prefers to poop in his pullups. In fact, since I keep him in underwear in the daytime, he'll actually hold it all day until he gets pullups at bedtime.

Don't stress. Boys are just more difficult to train to poop for some reason. He'll eventually figure it out.

maybe he is constipated. Is he sitting on the big potty? if he is he just can't get enough leverage to push since his legs are dangling. They say to take him to the peditrician and they might give you mineral oil/enema's That'll help him. Also don't tell him that his poop poop is stinky, they'll think to go poop is bad and not want to do it.

Well, I had trouble with both of my boys. I had to work, so when some in-laws watched the younger one, that had been through several kids, they trained him for me. Not sure what they did, but it was nice to have them take care of it.

tell him that's he's not coming out unless he does, or ask him why and try to fix it. He'll get over it.

DONT WORRY! :)
