Agreed, and agreed. If people are drawn to your faith, they will come naturally. No need to go out there and rope people in so that they'll be "saved." That's for the people to decide, whether they want saving or not. People have a healthy sense of understanding of what faith is anyways, no need for us to pull them in every direction.

I don't see anything wrong with sharing your knowledge and experience with your chosen religion, but I agree with you that
pushing it on others is offensive. Mainly because as you say
it invalidates or ignores other peoples viewpoints.
This is makes people less willing to listen or explore. It kind of defeats the purpose of the communication.
Anyway it's not what this forum is for. In the virtual world of computers they call it spamming. Nobody likes that.

As to why they do this.... I think they have a false awareness or perception of the other guy. They do not see the individual but some general "soul" that must be saved. Most of the Christian world considers man to be born in sin . That man is basically evil. It's an incorrect assumption that somehow gives them the exclusive "right" to "save" us all.

Everybody wants to be right don't they? People should have the right to believe what they want, which is their choice as a person, a choice that god gave them, no one else should tell them what is wrong or right whether or not that's what they believe. These so called missionaries and other groups think they're doing right and whatever but really what was wrong in the first place? This topic just goes round and round

1. No one can force another to believe anything. The use of the word force is hostile and ridiculous.

2. If people disagree about religious ideas and want to talk about their beliefs, you find that some dastardly act.

3. I'll bet you think it's a good thing when other areas are debated by people of different ideas. So you apply a different standard to people of faith, and that, my friend, is the H word - H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y.

Have you ever been out to dinner and your food was so good you had your dining partner try some because you just couldn't believe it tasted so good?

People often discover "their" religion changed their life for the better. You can't help but to want others to see how great things can be. You feel like you're cheating people if you keep it to yourself.

It's human nature. You know something Big, Amazing, Wonderful, but you just can't sit on it. You Have To Tell somebody! Christians do so because they want to 'save' people due to their belief that God will judge them one day. But sadly, most religious leaders do not do this out of concern, but for the sake of money. More people in their churches, means more money in their purse. I am christian, and I love to talk about God and all the wonderful things he has done, but I will never 'force' anyone to abandon their beliefs. Not like the Catholic Church, who for over 1,500 years has killed those who do not agree with it.

Christians are told by Jesus to spread the Word to the world, to go into lands that haven't heard about the Word and preach it. Jesus wants all to know and to be saved.

Muslims are told by Mohummad to tell others about Islam because Gabriel told him to do so. That Allah is the truth and all are to follow Him.

Jews are told by YHVH to spread the Word and to teach others. They are still waiting for the Messiah and they are the Chosen People.

Other world religions, Hinduism, Buddhaism, etc. want to teach others how to find enlightment and peace of heart. They don't have a god that tells them to spread the word but they believe that all would be better off if one can reach enlightment.

Perhaps some religious professors have been hallucinating that they are empowered. But personally speaking, if you are forced by anyone to join their religious org, certainly it is a false religion.

Two opposite beliefs can't be true at a time.
So, if you are right than they are wrong and if they are right then you are wrong
