in 2011 f1 and the fia are going to introduce a new engine formula, one of the new changes will very possibly be the use of bio fuels,, now I'm thinking this is going to be ethanol not hydrogen,
nascar just switched to unleaded fuel this week, this has been illegal in road cars for 20 years, so don't look for anything innovative from them any time soon

Unlikely. Hydrogen cars have electric motors (re-combining hydrogen and oxygen in a fuel cell gives electricity. Trying to actually burn hydrogen in an internal combustion engine doesn't give much power at all.) I can't see F1 or NASCAR using electric cars - not unless they're forced to.

NASCAR just barely introduced unleaded gas at the cup level in 2007. The next step will probably be ethanol in the next few years. I don't see hydrogen being used by NASCAR for at least 10 years, if ever.

It's possible from a technical point of view. The real issue is that sponsors and constructors want to promote their products, so they wouldn't be keen to switch to a fuel that is not commercially available. The IRL does seem to realize the "green" marketing upside of it's alcohol fuel however. But CART (or whatever it's called these days) and subsequently the IRL went chose alcohol for safety reasons.
