it's not only the british heavyweight division that is in shambles. it's the WHOLE weight division in the world that's in a mess.
there's too many boxing federations/associations/organisations/councils all claiming to be boxing's legitimate sanctioning body. but in doing so, their bloody greed for money and lust for power severely devalued the competition that you have jokers and sissies fighting a serious world champ.
now you can't even determine who is the best boxer in the world because they can't simply square off the ring due to the in-fighting of these boxing bodies.

HAHAHA!!! British Heavyweights? Boxing is not "in shambles". I suppose that's why May 5th is the day everyone is waiting for? Seems to me Football players have less care for the game, as with Basketball and steriod junkie Baseball players. They are in trouble ALL of the time, and they "play when they feel like playing". Tyson bites an ear, and people say "That makes Boxing look horrible." The Detroit Pistons start a riot in the crowd and no one say shet how bad Basketball is. Badesball players go on strike forever because they are cry babies, THEN take TAX dollars to build a statium, THEN if you have property there they "buy you out". That means the Goverment makes you an offer, you decline, and then they just take your stuff anyways. But does anyone complain about how bad Baseball is? NO!!! Also, there is MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL for each sport. In boxing there is WBA,WBC, WBO, IBF, and several others with 13 weight divisions, some with 14 now (Super Cruiserweight), with The Ring Magazine crowning THEIR own 13 Champions. It is FAR too much to pay attention when you talk about 70+ championships, and THEN you need to pay $50 to watch the fights, or at LEAST pay for cable. Oofta, you can't even read about it in the news papers anymore. So to "fix" Boxing, it needs to be unified by a union... like EVERYOTHER sport. Then the UNION could recognise the UNION Champions only! Cut away the Alphebit Soup completely. Then the need to build up up-and-comers on regular TV. If regular main stream sports fans were treated to a few great fights, they will come around. That is basically what MMA is doing and look at how well IT is doing. 10 years about they wanted it banned, now there are Bodog Fights and IFC coming to ION and UPN stations respectfully. As far a British Heavyweights go, there haven't been THAT many. England is about the size of an America state, now that the former Soviet Union has entered boxing, the world of Boxing got alot "bigger". Thus making the UK and US "smaller". So that's what's up with British Heavyweights and Heavyweights in general pertaining to it being in "shambles". Just because a few writers say that, does not mean you need to be their mindless zombie, believing something because they tell you to. As long as you love boxing, that's all that matters. "They" say it's in shambles, "they" also said Holyfield was shot before he beat Tyson and held the WBA title for 3 years and unifying the IBF for 2 of the 3. "They" said Lewis couldn't beat Holyfield too. Get the idea? "They" talk trash all the time best it puts food on their table, not because it is true.

Unfortunately, heavyweight boxing on a whole is a shambles, all the good "OUL HEADS" have passed their sell by date or retired, I think that UFC and Pride are taking away a lot of fans from the boxing circuit, sad but true,
