try sitting sideways in a chair, feet anchored and go down to the floor and up, center, and to each side. this will really kick your abs into gear. also try crunches while holding weights. If you have a cable machine, kneel down and pull cables down while holding handles to your ears, by bringing your head to your knees.

The first thing you need to know is sit-ups are a terrible way to define your mid section. You can do a hundred "good" sit-ups a day and you'll barely notice. You will get stronger, but you won't ever get a six pack or anything like it with just sit-ups. The best ways to hit your abs hard are: Get a hanging shoulder harness and suspend from a pull-up bar using your abs to bring your legs (or knees if you're not strong enough yet) chest level. If you don't have the harness (I don't) just grab the pull-up bar with your hands and let your body suspend there. Keeping good form, with your feet together, and your legs locked straight, bring your feet out in front of you and lift them as high as you possibly can. Shoot for chest level. When you get them up, wait 1 second and slowly bring them down. When you first start, you won't be able to do many, but, you'll gain strength rapidly and you'll start to see that six pack coming out of your stomach.
After I've done my 5 sets I'll go to a decline sit-up bench and work only my obliques (the sides of your stomach). Lie on the decline ab bench like you were about to do some sit-ups, and alternate turning your body while you perform sit-ups. This way, you never do a straight sit-up, you're doing them from the side. It's easy to tell when you're doing them right b/c your obliques will start burning, especially if you've never really hit them good.
There are a lot of other ways to hit your abs. Sit-ups suck. I only do them to hit my obliques but sometimes I use other techniques even for that. Pick-up a weightlifting or men's fitness mag sometimes and you'll find some good tips on effective ab exercises. Seriously there all all kinds of ways to really work the stomach, and they're all more effective, and more fun than boring old sit-ups.
**I should also note, if you have a lot of extra fat around your waist, your first priority should be diet and cardio. You have to lose that weight. Sit-ups or any other ab exercise are not going rid you of extra fat without proper diet and exercise.
**One more thing, your abs are a group of muscles. Therefore, they should be conditioned just like any other muscle in the body. Work them one day and then let them rest 1-2 days before working them again.

if your doing them correctly, you should see a difference in a couple of weeks. 200 a day, you should be seeing something. if not, then ur not doing them right.
