Just about anytime we make choices apart from the mainstream
we automatically, perhaps unwittingly,
challenge the belief system of others.
Such is the act of choosing to eat and drink healthy or holistic.
Selecting foods that are devoid of additives,
free of chemicals and pollutants and not highly processed,
almost always raise the question in others of
“What’s so wrong or bad with what I eat?”
How many times have you heard,
“But I’ve always eaten that way?”
Or, how about, “I know what I like and that’s what I want.”
If you or someone you know is in that category
you owe it to yourself to read on, please…
Good health is not just about you.
Good health is for your children and all those you care about
who could have the early benefits of learning from you.
To make a transition toward honest foods you need to take
one – slow – step – at – a – time
and learn to choose less for more with good reason.
Connect the word honest with integrity, sincerity,
genuine, truthful, honorable, straightforward
upright, candid and undeceitful.
Now apply that same thinking
to what you consume and are able to digest.
Think about it… even the fast food trans-fatty acids
and non-digestible oils
that deep fry your fries are being outlawed state-by-state.
(Can we say it’s about time?)
Jean Carper, a leading authority on health and nutrition,
says that unless we eat wisely and feed good food to our brain
it can become inefficient and possibly dysfunctional.
That’s only one organ. What about the others?
Please, we all need a healthy brain to think, right?
For some, the very process of thinking about
why and what to eat and drink will be eye-opening.
For others, it will be a life changing experience.
And, still, for some it will become life saving because
that specific thinking time will be given to searching
and validating foods that are needed for good health,
growth and energy ~ genuine foods
with proper packaging and without unnecessary, harmful extras.
As a result, better choices can be made.
You’ll discover that by choosing less you can actually gain more.
It’s really easy.
You’ll be ready to make the first step
by the time you finish this article!
Generally speaking, the simpler the foods,
the greater the nutritional value.
In terms of “simpler” think easy, uncomplicated,
plain, pure, unprocessed, natural, even unpretentious.
Thinking truthfully about your food and drink
automatically introduces you to correct values of consuming.
So allow yourself the necessary time,
even if it’s only a few minutes each week,
to understand the significance of healthy eating and drinking.
In mentioning time, it’s wonderful to note so many
eating strategies and plans exist that claim
to prevent strokes and greatly reduce the risk of heart attacks.
So why rely on guesswork or traditional habits to be healthy
when you can overturn sickness and disease
by gleaning the good
from whole foods and preparation techniques?
If you knew you could avoid or even omit
one or two disabling mental or physical problems,
wouldn’t you want to give it a try?
Well, of course you would! Me, too!
That’s why this year we’re going to focus on the
holistic goodness and preparations of specific foods and the role
each of them plays in overcoming sickness and disease.
You were designed to be an over comer!
You were designed to be and live a healthy lifestyle.
You’ve likely heard the phrase “knowledge is power”.
Think again. I don’t think so.
How can knowledge be power unless knowledge is applied?
Consider this: Applied knowledge is power.
and it works both ways ~ for you and against you.
If you know to do good and you do it,
think of the probable benefits of eating healthy for you,
your family and those you love.
Think of all the good you can share and teach others.
Think of the far-reaching good that will come back to you!
On the other hand, if you know to do good
(a knowing in your mind, heart and in your gut)
and you don’t act on it as in choosing healthy food,
what good is that?
Knowledge that is not in application toward good can lead to
sickness, lethargy, helplessness and even death.
Have you ever thought of sickness and disease
being silent destroyers?
I have yet to meet a friend that has not suffered
the loss of a family member or friend to a silent destroyer.
And yet, when we have an opportunity
to make good or bad choices about the food we select,
which is directly related to our general health,
why is it we allow ourselves to be tossed about
and pushed into believing there is nothing wrong
with overly processed food, being duped by its advertised hype?
Learn the difference between healthy foods and drink
(even 7-Up now claims to be jumping on the natural wagon)
that maintain good energy, growth and sustainability
vs. those items ( I hesitate to call foods)
which are actually nutritionally empty
and linked back to ailments, sickness and disease.
Now you can begin to confidently address this question,
“How serious are you about your health?”
Do you think history might hold a few clues
as to why and how there are resurgences
of diseases relating to nutrition?
Do you believe that what and how you eat
can greatly determine your health?
Know anyone in need of a “healthy do-over”?
You? Parents? Relatives? Friends?
Not-so-much friends?
Hey, anyone and everyone can qualify
because any and all can learn.
Learning IS an exciting adventure
and it’s absolutely free!
Yippie – Skippie
Now we can be real smart about what it takes
to bring our bodies to a state of good health… even great health
because starting right now through the end of this year
we’re going to take a close look at honest, whole foods
that will enable you to
[1] Choose less food quantity with more value and nutrition
[2] Help build a productive, healthy lifestyle
[3] Create easy eating plans you like
[4] Reduce your food budget
[5] Reinvest in your health with your fast food savings
Yep, coming up…
you’ll be learning a little history, a little principle,
a little about food, a lot about ingredients,
a little about building, a lot about supplementing
a lot about sharing, even more about whole foods…
all to help you and your decisions about food.
So get ready for some good, sound reasoning
because the learning begins right now…
For most, eating is a habit ~ for good or bad, it’s just a habit.
If you have good eating habits, congrats!
If you have bad ones,
keep reading to learn how to put a stop to them
and start applying good ones. It’s not hard. Here’s how.
Once you learn the difference you will set in motion the process
of building your healthy body’s immune system to fight disease.
And that, in a nutshell, is the concept of eating holistic foods.
A healthy body has the ability to fight sicknesses and diseases
through its own immunization system.
A weak immune system cannot fight. It’s that simple.
That’s why it’s important to learn to eat for good reasons:
nutrition, growth, energy, sustaining, sharing, learning
and teaching others to do the same.
It’s available to have good health from the beginning of life
but most humans do not have that blessing.
Most of us have immune systems
that have been overworking since conception!
Nor were we taught the great, healing values
of holistic eating as toddlers.
Certainly we weren’t raised by daycare centers and babysitters
with healthy, pioneering eating habits.
So we grew in stature regardless.
Everything looked okay on the outside.
But the nature of our eating habits,
the health of our immune system
and that of our environment all had amazing effects
on how well we fared mentally and physically.
Looking back for the purpose of reaching ahead for the better,
how many additives do you think you consume in a day’s time?
How much in a single meal? How many Artificial Colorings?
Artificial flavorings? Preservatives? Fertilizers? Pesticides?
Chemicals? Sugars?
If you were to lump all these additives together,
what would you call them? Poison?
Do you read the ingredient labels of what you consume?
So one of the most important things you can start doing right now
is taking an honest look at what you are eating and drinking.
Is what you are ingesting and digesting really food?
(Be sincere and don’t be afraid to call a spade a spade!)
Slow down with the so-called fast food.
Are you sure it’s food? Really?
Can you read the label on that paper wrapper?
Are the ingredients even listed on that plastic container?
Was what you bought as raw food cooked conventionally
or zapped into an entirely different molecular structure?
(That, of course, would be your “friendly” microwave.)
The point is this: somehow you likely rationalize
that you’ve lived this long on fast food
so you think “What’s another day going to do?”
When you allow yourself to think that way,
you’re continuing a bad habit. Right?
Of course right because now you know to do better.
You know to do good!
You have a natural body designed for growth and sustenance
utilizing natural, nutritious whole food.
So start using your eyes to take a closer look
at what it is you are calling food.
Then, have an ongoing challenge with you mind,
to guess what it is you’re selecting as food before you buy it.
Make what you think is a healthy choice
then prove it to yourself by reading the ingredients.
You’ll be surprised at how fast you can teach yourself
what is really good and what is nasty bad.
Give yourself a month at this game
and see if the smart you makes a change for the better
and begin eliminating the additives one at a time.
Don’t be surprised if you find sugar
the hardest and “badest” habit to kick.
(Do you know that even popular plain table salt contains sugar?
Go figure… read the label for yourself!)
You were trained from birth to embrace sugar
and reward yourself with it as much as you liked. So you did.
But, inevitably, that youthful, healthy body
began to have problems ~ physically and mentally.
Who knew you were damaging yourself with your own food?
You certainly didn’t.
After all, you were raised to eat that way, right?
Well, here’s the moment you’ve been waiting for.
This is the precise moment in time I’m asking to you to stop!
Stop the killer food habits for your sake
and that of your children and your children’s children.
Stop for your relatives. Stop for your friends.
Stop for your not-so-much-friends.
Stop consuming what healthy watchdog statistics say
amounts to some 20 plus pounds of poison
(Oh, I’m sorry…was that sugar?) each year per adult!
Stop because sooo many people care about you!
I’m asking you to make a healthy food change
that will affect you for the better each and every time you eat.
You can put your body back on track
even if you have no idea of where that might be.
Just take the first step…
Know what it is that you choose to eat.
Start right now in making healthy food and drink choices
by eliminating those with additives.
If it’s not an actual food item that could can be eaten
in a raw or almost raw state, don’t even buy it!
Are you holding something with listed ingredients
the length your arm? Drop it!
If it doesn’t grow, have or had life of its own,
you guessed it… don’t eat it!
Leave garbage for flies. It’s their calling, not yours.
You’re at the top of the food chain, remember?
If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, don’t even think about it.
Call them nasty or call them gunk
But, when you begin to feel better
because your body is beginning to repair itself,
you can refer to them by an accurate phrase…
“non-food stuffs ~ unfit for human consumption.”
If you don’t know the ingredients or source, ask yourself “why”.
(Source is a huge consideration
we’ll take a closer look at this year.)
The risk factor of not knowing what’s in your food
far outweighs the enjoyment or satisfaction
of what you think should be there.
Once you make the decision to eliminate an item from your life
have the replacement ready to put in its place
because it’s way, way too easy for some
to throw out their entire kitchen pantry contents or frig.
at one time!
~ QUICK TIP ~
When you begin to eliminate the “unwanted”
from your kitchen shelves and frig.
do others a great service… doesn’t pass it on… throw it out!
And please don’t offer it to your pets.
Who needs more costly vet bills?
You’re now beginning a road that will lead you
to greater health and fewer medical bills.
That is genuine health care.
Until next month…
Sweet dreams ‘til sunbeams find you!
