Out of 152 replies that I received to the questions I asked this morning, ONE was unkind.

Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate doing away with religion or Christianity. I was raised Christian myself, and I think that some are quite lovely people. There are some, however, who fail to take the teachings of Jesus to heart, and those can be some of the meanest people you will ever meet.

Wot's worse, their own self-righteous belief that they are superior, for being a Christian, fuels the very non-Christian behavior that makes them so difficult to tolerate.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry Autumn, I may be an unrighteous, evil person who's going to hell, but I'm not going to return evil for evil.

I think Jesus said something about that. loi

CMW: I think I've made a reasonable effort to explain that I don't think that all Christains behave this way (or even a majority for that matter).

He is not a true Christian. Many people claim to be Christians, but that does not make them so. People like him are the false prophets spoke about in the Bible, that are meant to lead people away from God with their "false truth of Christianity." You will see many people in this life who claim to be things they aren't, and they will show themselves and what they say they are in a very bad light. They may even believe themselves to be Christian, but in truth, do not follow the ways of The Lord. I am sorry that you feel this way, but you must understand they know not what they truly do, and you must try to forgive them as Jesus did with those who betrayed him.

People are really hard on Christians because the world looks to them to imitate the Lord in all of their behavior. What the world forgets is that Christians are not God, that even though we believe, we still struggle with our own humanity and we battle the downward trend towards sinfulness and that this is a work in progress. IN some spirituality based religions, you see a lot more devotion than Christians, this is amazing to me. I think that the difference with Christianity is that it is not a religion, it is a relationship with the Lord, a personal friendship, a personal accountability to the Lord. Unless I am wrong, I don't think that there is so much personal friendship and abiding in the Lord in other spirituality based religions.

If a Christian does not abide or stay very close to the Lord, no matter how hard they try to do the right thing and act holy or spiritual, it will not happen. In order for us to manifest a holiness or some tangible evidence that we are Christians, there has to be a 24/7 abiding, closeness to the Lord, a clinging, we must live by the Word of God, Jesus said that man cannot live by bread alone, but by EVERY Word of the Lord. He also said that if you abide in Me (Jesus) and I abide in you, you will bear much fruit.

Sadly enough, I know exactly what you mean-I am a practising Christian and come across this all of the time :-(. It's horrible really- my experience has mainly been with men-it's like they accuse me of not being a Christian if I can't quote long excerpts from the Bible, if I don't know the meanings behind certain songs, if I don't say the reading 'Christian enough'-why on earth would these things matter? They just make me feel bad when all I'm interested in is trying to help others-there's such a hierarchy. They wonder why some churches cant keep people in them-mine is closing as we have like 7 people every week-one of my friends has a much more relaxed atmosphere at Church and they have 80+...it really does say something that they need to realise!

I had an experience of this recently as well, I think with some people they find so much comfort in their own religion that they feel they can do no wrong. They can become self righteous and get very blinkered views. I do believe that religion can have a positive effect on peoples lives and has a place in today's society, but people must no use religion as an excuse to do bad things, hurt, or hide behind!

I will stop preaching now and get back to work!!

before I go a quick joke to cheer you up!

A burglar is breaking into a home and as he comes into the living room he hears " God is watching you".

Upon hearing this he looks around the room and sees a parrot in the corner and says ," What is your name?" .

The bird replies ," Moses". The burglar laughs and says " What kind of idiot names their parrot Moses?!"

And the bird replies " The same idiot who named his Rottweiler - God ."

Have a great day!

Jesus never said be a goodie two shoes politically correct person. Jesus was ORNARY.

He'd have dinner with the Pharasee and ask him what he'd do if his camel, horse or cow fell into the well on the SABBATH day, would he get a rope and (work) pulling him out.

Jesus turned over the tables in the temple and chased out the gamblers and money lenders, shouting at them.

Jesus was hardly PC.

You're confusing Christians with Buddihists. And even a Buddhist monk will give you an ornary answer when called for, it'll just be so polite and worded so well you won't realize you've been insulted until much later when you figure out the obscure meaning.

Yes I have and so have other people I know - they are a bunch of hypocrites and turn the other cheek if you go against what they believe in or you don't come up to the standards quoted in the Bible. As a spiritualist I am condemned as being a witch and in league with the devil! I try to help everyone and not judge - can Christians claim to do the same? Now watch for all the thumbs down!!

there is archaeological info that some places interior the Bible existed, genuine. This, even however, is the comparable as asserting that Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes existed because of the fact there is archaeological info of London. there is amazingly little info of any particular activities interior the Bible, and lots against (e.g., cities meant to have been conquered by potential of Joshua did not exist on the time, etc.). Bible prophecies are imprecise adequate that they are in a position to be fulfilled a number of situations, and nevertheless be claimed as "info" of alternative issues. there is not something particular. and an stunning style of non-scientific info besides. There are not any good non-Biblical account of Jesus. human beings will die for issues they suspect are genuine, even though in the event that they don't seem to be. human beings have been keen to die for Jim Jones, David Koresh, and a goodly style of alternative lunatics. Koresh, in specific, claimed he became the return of Christ. If human beings have been keen to die for him, does that advise he became good? The few places the place the recent testomony could be matched to historic activities, it has failed miserably (e.g., start dates for Jesus ten years aside, Nazareth did not even exist on the time, no checklist of a bloodbath or the launch of prisoners on the Passover, etc. etc. etc.) Given an not likely journey such because of the fact the spontaneous resurrection and assumption into heaven of a individual, the simplest assumption isn't that the resurrection and assumption got here approximately, yet that somebody made up a tale, stole a physique, etc. Occamk's razor says the likely tale is genuine, not the least probably. If this assumption have been to be maximum appropriate, then each and every lacking individual could be mentioned to have died, resurrected, and been assumed actual into heaven. whats up, there is not any info it did not take place, so it could actually be genuine, good? Your very final assertion is consistent with special "if", and around good judgment. extra probably he in basic terms believed he became the Son of God. there are an stunning style of human beings on the streets of ny right now who have faith that - in case you do not have faith them, why have faith in a Judean anarcho-communist hippie?

It doesn't matter whether a person is christian, muslim, agnostic, atheist, buddhist, wiccan, satanist, etc. People are who they are. There are bullies in all walks of life. There are people who need to feel superior over others. Those people are the ones that need a reality check and a refresher course in humbleness. These types of people truly need to treat others how they truly want to be treated. People with a superiority complex need to know that they can not expect to receive respect if they treat others in a disrespectful and overbearing manner. There is a mature way of dealing with these types of people and that's all you can really do. Be the more mature person.

I think some Christians think they are superior because someone has filled them with some false pride. I have encountered people who have made comments such as: "I'm a Christian so I'm better than you." I have discovered it's frequently the extreme right and they've been told that by some leader of theirs. They are even told they are better than other denominations. That is so wrong because no denomination is better than the other. And God decides everything in the end so none of them have any business judging anyone.

Yes. Sanctimony knows no demographic boundary though.
If you think about why some Christians are that way, you would find out that while they have an understanding about it, they have a great lack of knowledge concerning the exact nature of man.
The "total depravity" doctrine, the understanding of it.
That term comes from the Calvinist tradition, I don't know if you knew of it. I think you did.
