Well, I suggest you pay money and get a professional to do it but if you're a risk taker, sanitize a sewing needle and do it.
My sister did and it went perfect, she still has them. :]

Use "a trained professional".
(Now, I am one, after learning the hard way!!)

When piercing anything on the mouth you must remember that it is the worlds best breeding ground for bacteria. If you have some way to use only sterile, new (sharp) equipment, in a sterile environment, have a good knowledge of the blood flow (veins and such) and muscle structure of the lip, and have knowledge of piercing technique........you may be semi-informed enough to do it yourself.

Just remember that you choose to live with the risks. Here is what to look for if your labret piercing gets infected:
It can have swelling, redness, yellow-green pus like discharge, and a sensitivity to touch. In the case of infection, leave your labret jewelry in to make certain proper drainage occurs and to prevent the formation of an abscess. See your doctor right away if you are experiencing fevers or abdominal pain!!

Well, I've said it before and I have no problem saying it again...

DON'T DO THIS!!!!!

Your friend is not a professional and though lip piercings are far from rocket science you can still easily screw this up. If you don't know what tools to use, you probably also don't know where to pierce as to not cause damage to teeth, gums and veins. I'm sure that also means that you don't know what type and size jewelry to use and you probably don't know what you should be doing to clean the piercing.

And to top it all off, if something goes wrong, will you be able to take care of that?!

Seriously, your friend is a horrible person for being willing to cause harm to you. Save your money and wait until you are 18 and then get the piercing if you still want it then.

U got to be mentally challenged to ask this question. Go ahead and have ur friend pierce ur lip with the inappropriate instruments so u can get the most nastiest infection in the world, then ur lip will fall off. LOL! Boss up and get some money!!!! If u cant afford it then u dont need it!

Get it done right. A professional piercer will use a hollow needle and knows where to position it. Your friend most likely is not licensed there for you run the huge risk of having massive problems resulting in infection, ugly scar, having to see a doctor and taking medicine. Go to a professional, and if you aren't old enough get a PARENT to sign for it if they will. They know what they are doing.

well, the best thing to do would be to go to a PROFESSIONAL!!

BUT, the reason that you aren't going to a professional seems to be because you are only 13 years old!
and since NO ONE in their right mind would pierce a 13 year old's lip, you have now resorted to having your friend do it for you??

the fact that you actually believed that your lip would fall off from having it pierced, in accompany with your age, shows that you need to focus more on your school studies, and stop worrying about being emo, and trying to fit in, so much to the point that you would risk having a NASTY infection in your lip., from unsterilized sewing needles.

and no, alcohol and boiling water does not properly sterilize.

Your lip won't fall off!! That is physically impossible! But if you pierce it yourself it will get infected and look gross... and could cause other problems... Go to a professional.. even if you sterilize a needle.. it could still be bad.

you're heading for a free infection, possible scarring and a bruised ego... Oh and not to mention a crappy piercing.. But hey, you kids think you know best, I'd use a rusty nail and hammer... That should turn out just nicely....

Good luck with that!

You should use a professional piercer so your lip doesn't get infected and fall off.
