I would wait until you no longer live with my parents. When I lived at home, I abided by the parent's rules. Now, I am on my own,and I can do whatever I wanT! Be respectful to them and wait til you get out of their house.

If your 18 then your big enough to know what you want, don't mention the tattoo again to your parents just make sure its something that you really want and if it is just get it. I think most tattoo shops charge by the length of time it takes to do the tattoo not by each piece. Good luck.

first. PLEASE don't get that tattoo!!! there are SO many other good options for a tattoo. that is so old and played out and unatractive! please please please don't ruin your skin with some tribal that will get you made fun of and that you will probably regret in 10 years.
second. how old are you? as long as you are 18 and can pay for it there is nothing stopping you from getting a tattoo. legally you can do it without your parent's permission. if you are under 18 then you'll just have to wait.
please take some time to do some research on tattoos and the possibilities as well as artist talent levels. i'm sure there are worlds of things you don't know about tattoos. i wish i had someone to guide me before i got my first tattoo. here's a starting place... check out my tattoo artist

Why are they against it? Did you ever sit down and seriously ask them why are they against tattoos?
maybe explain to them why it is so important to you to get a tat.
I was 16 when i got a tat and my mother said it was a sign of the devil.
But then i explained to her why they are important to me( a friend's passing). Then she realized what it was about.
Would they compromise? And let you get a smaller one in a easily covered area .at least until you are on your own.

If you are of age theres not much they can do even if yu live with them. The prices of tatooes vary like i have 4 the prices varied from 35.00- 175.00 now they are smaller ones so imagine the price of a big one.

It would be very cheap if you just buy a bottle of India ink and make little cuts with a very small scalpel and rub the ink in.
