Well, now that you have the REVIEWS about how Pretty the picture is....

Let me fill in the RELIABILITY blanks.......

Sony always has been good in Service and Support for their broken TV sets and that's nice to know that you have one of the best TEAMS behind your TV.....

As far as seeing them fail.........I have yet to see ANY SONY LCD TV FAIL!! They are more reliable than the "Projection TVs" with the mercury vapor lamps.....

You made a darn good choice in TVs......

Here is a review which is very favourable and has lots of good information: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63698

Personally, I own a Hitachi 42PD9700 Plasma and really love it. It is 1080i but has special technology to simulate 1080p, but reading the review on the Sony it shows that movies are only really capable of 1080i so that is not an issue.

You can buy the Hitachi for under £900 which will save you a lot of cash.

It's mounted on my wall and the picture looks fantastic. I spent time comparing it to tons of other more expensive plasma and LCD screens and it was by far superior especially when looking at Standard Definition (SD) tv. This is important because the majority of time you spend watching will be with SD content so you don't want to buy something based on seeing it display HD content in a store.

Here is the review on the Hitachi if you are interested.

I hope this helps you make your decision easier.

Good luck and happy viewing

I have a Sony 42" HDTV Grand Wega LCD, & it's super. The one you are looking at is even better. The Bravia engine interface gives good resolution even on non HD channels. I used an HDMI cable for even a better picture on HD & Digital.

If you go here you can see the top rated HDTVs from pcworld.com
http://www.pcworld.com/ic/hdtv/

Anyway, you can check it against the others they have tested it though I did not see it in the top 5. Also look at the ebay in uk for pricing too of the TV you plan to buy.
