Surprise him with something really romantic, like a candle lit room with lots of roses and dinner, or take him somewhere very private and breathtaking.

have a limo drive up to pick him up from work and take you both down for a surprise weekend in a hotel - it can be in your hometown or close but staying in a hotel makes it feel obligationless and vacationy

make him and yourself a nice meal...dim the lights,with some candle light..have some romantic music playing....then have a nice romantic evening together....
