How do people get lazy eyes? Is it genetic? Does it come from crossing your eyes too much? Does it come from getting smahed in the eye wit a blunt object?

Is it treatable?

It can be surgically treated. But eye doctors will only consider surgery if you indeed have double vision. I, myself, am lazy eyed on one eye and I cannot turn both my eyes left, 'cause one eye will go up and the other will go the other way. I believe I got my lazy eye when I got into a fight and the son of a ***** hit me in the eye. I guess the muscles, nerves lost strenght and so that one eye is cock-eyed now. Don't worry about it. I would think it's definitely being socked in the eye or crossing your eyes too much. I don't think it can be genetic.

Cross eyes, squint or astigmatism is genetic. The muscles around the eye are weak, and the child sees 2 images. The child tries to suppress the faint image from the weak eye. This 'lazy eye' ultimately becomes blind. the treatment of lazy eye must be done in early childhood. The good eye is patched shut so that the child uses the lazy eye, strengthening its muscles and correcting the defect.
