i am willing to spen between $$200-350 on a camera. i would like it to be SLR like, and have high qualtiy. i dont have a certian brand i am looking for, but one that has very high picture quality, and can possibly record short video clips. i like the stlye of the SLR cameras but not exactly a fan of their prices. of course i am an amatuer, but i would still like the high quality.

thanks.

Try a good old fashioned 35mm SLR camera, they are durable(I've been using mine for wildlife for 10yrs) they are versatile, and with everyone going digital, SLRs and their accessaries are getting cheaper....Just a thought, I'm sure you'll stick w/digital..Good luck!

concerning to your final paragraph approximately megapixels: in maximum situations, the greater megapixels the better high quality enlargements. For prints of four x 6 inches, 3 megs is greater desirable than sufficient. Prints this length, from a good high quality photograph printer of expert processor, I undertaking absolutely everyone to confirm man or woman pixels. I even have even seen good 5 x 7 prints from a three meg document. For sizes 8 x 10, to approximately 12 x 14, you exceedingly much genuinely could desire to shoot with a minimum of five megs. a marvelous 5 meg digicam will produce stunning prints of this length. in case you shop around, you may properly be waiting to locate some fashions on your budget, yet different applications would be lacking, like good optical zoom. (do no longer even look at digital zoom numbers. they are exceedingly meaningless) for plenty larger prints, you may properly be looking at some expert fashions, fantastically in case you're thinking approximately poster sizes like 18 x 24 or greater desirable.

I am real happy with the semipro series (prosumer) cameras by Kodak.

Check out their website www.kodak.com

I have the P850 with attachments... including the 1.4 converter for a zoom of over 600mm relavant to 35mm format.

The quality and the choices of light balance and type of image is great. even shat a .mov file in a dark auditorium using the night setting and at 604mm. The movie cam out great...even the sound

I use the 'Canon Powershot S2 IS' - it is very good and can do everything an amateur photographer could want.
