Not enough carbs,fibre etc due to diet. Best natural laxative. Ballerina Tea

It's hard to say what really causes it. Some people say a lack of fibre but I have never connected that with constipation. As for too much refined food, there is little reason or evidence for this causing constipation. I think the most likely reason, based on my and others' experiences, is a lack of water. Everybody should drink at least 2 litres (64oz) of water a day. Constipation can also be psychologically related.

I do not personally recommend laxatives at all. If there is a problem, there is a reason, and that reason is what should be looked at really.

Certain foods such as a lot of cheese for example can cause constipation. Some medical conditions such as hypothyroidism can cause it as well.

As for laxatives they can help in the short term with the constipation factor but should only be used for about a week.
