Question inspired by the title of a sermon that once had a great influence on Jimmy Carter, entitled "If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?"

Oh dear.

Enough evidence to convict you of being a devout follower of your religion's teachings and/or living your life in an appropriate manner according to your beliefs, I suppose.

It's just a theoretical question.

It's metaphorical for pity's sake, why is that so hard to understand?!

AAARRRGGGHHHH! This isn't a question about the legality of following a religion. It's philiosophical... oh never mind, this is pointless. *Gives up trying to explain*

I understand the question. And of course the answer is no. Believing in Christianity requires faith. And that's because there is no proof. So without proof, there can be no conviction as this would require a demonstration beyond reasonable doubt. If, on the other hand, convictions were based on the balance of probability, then this is a lot less onerous and it might be possible.

P.S. any luck with MANhatten?

I must admit that I have enjoyed reading the answers...

I fully realise that this is a simple theoretical statement to get people to consider how well, if at all, they are living the Christian life, it's amazing how many people can not grasp this, actually I smiled when I read your addition of 'giving up trying to explain'.

Anyhow I would like to think that if I was arrested for being a Christian there would be no trouble finding evidence against me.

Smiling again :-)

if there wasnt enough evidence to begin with, by the time the judge was finished with me, there definitly would be.
I am a witness of jesus christ. I saw him, i saw his glory. I rebuke most of all christianity because of what i saw.

the link below comes closest to all things in the earth to describe what i saw. it is a photo of a painting, that i believe someone else could not have painted except he saw the same thing i saw.

There can be all kinds of evidence for a religion. Deeds done in the name of your Lord are what I'm assuming you're talking about. For me, I would hope so. Sadly, I doubt it very much for others, who claim to worship a loving God, but whose deeds say very different things about their faith.

Oh Good night yes. If It were a crime for me to be my faith they would really have me. My life is such a major part of my faith that I would be in jail. But lucky there is something called freedom of religion here

Convict of what?
I mean, if its simply could a court of law prove beyond a reasonable doubt that i Protest the Roman perversion of Christs teachings.

Heck yeah..
In fact i'd plead guilty.

Yes, as I write about being an atheist a lot - but most of my friends would swear I am not.
