Probably just a nice natured dog like a labrador or springer spaniel, but be careful whatever dog you go for. You've got to really train this dog well if you want it to be around a baby and let it know whos boss. Dont treat the dog like a baby make sure the dog is treated like a dog as it will get jealous of your baby otherwise. Good Luck

Sorry,
I have an issue with bringing 2 babies into the house at the same time. It's kinda like having twins. If you're up for that, fine. I dont know if anyone told you this, but newborns require 24/7 attention. It will be difficult to say the least to give a puppy the attention it requires too. housebreaking a puppy is a trying time, and there are health issues related to the two. Cat and dog feces are toxic to humans. ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. So extra precautions need to be taken to remove any training accidents completely.

If you are seriously thinking of bringing a pitt bull into your house with a newborn, you need to do some serious research on that dog and its bloodline. I'd hate to have it turn on you. It's a great breed that has been maligned into something terrible and dangerous and the only way to know for sure which you have is to look at where the puppy comes from.

Personally I think you should wait to get a dog no matter the breed. Dogs need just as much love and attention as babies do especially family dogs. If you don't think that you can do that then it would be better to wait. Besides, dogs do tend to get jealous and can be resentful and I'm sure you don't want your baby to get hurt or have to give the dog away after you've bonded with it. That would too traumatic for the dog. Wait until your baby is about 4-5 yrs. old. That way the child will be old enough to enjoy a dog and will be able to accept a little responsibility in caring for a dog.

I would not reccomend a dog and a newborn at the same time. I really wouldnt. There are varius health reasons for your child. I would wait until your child has turned at least one. Then get them a puppy for their birthday or somthing. But while they are in infancy I would say keep the animals away from the house.

i would say wait a while a baby is a full time job and its a full time job training a new pup so why dont you wait until the baby is a little older then get a pup one thing at a time mate

the 2nd for sure because they we'll asways protect your child. but you might want to have the baby THEN get the dog... so the dog doesnt think its his house.
