If you want to stay away from the alcohol and the sugar, you might consider making iced coffee. Typically iced coffee is made twice as strong, chilled in a refrigerator and then served over ice. Sometimes the acidity from brewed coffee is problematic for some coffee drinkers. In those cases, a cold brewed coffee might be the solution. Making cold brewed coffee is beyond the scope of this article, however there are several companies that make cold brewed coffee available for sale. CoolBrew from the New Orleans Coffee Co. makes and ships cold brewed coffee in several varieties including french roast, decaf and vanilla. They have also constructed a recipe section with a few more cold beverage ideas.
