'honour thy father and mother'..beginning from 6th-10th commandments all pertain to relationship to man. the first 4 commandments pertains to relationship to God, and there's no indication that there is a 'mother of God' in the first 4 commandments.
where can we found any phrase from the Bible such as 'queen of heavens'? sounds like venus, eh???
2nd samuel 6:11 "and Jehovah blessed Obed-edom..". It's not even an angel who blessed Obed-edom here. It's the God himself. why dont regard him as you do to Mary?
well, the 'donkey' brought Jesus to Jerusalem as Mary bear Jesus in her 'womb'. so, why make 'Our Lady's womb' so blessed and not with the donkey also?
the content of "Hail Mary..." might not be prayers to her. but look at how you kneel, fast, sacrifice..isn't that worshipping? dont make me blind here pls..
"Hail Mary..pray for us sinners...". isnt this a PRAYER to Mary asking her to pray for 'us' to God?
i have lots of catholic friends who claim 'to pray to Mary' before and also claim that they were answered. So, there are absolutely catholics who claim that they PRAY to Mary.
why do you need to recite that prayer..isn't Jesus enough?? how many 'holy persons' do you need to talk to God?
There are only two humans ever recorded in the Bible that are in heaven now: Elijah and Moses. why dont make them blessed also and recite intercesory prayers since they are surely in heaven?
Catholics, please dont be blind by this verse or else dont believe in the WHOLE BIBLE at all. 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus."
dont get me wrong Mary's life is an example..specially to all mothers nowadays. She's great! but not to be regarded as most catholics do.

in the Gospels of the Bible(i.e Mathew,Mark,Luke & John), when you read the chapters on the birth of Christ, you will notice that when the angel Gabriel came to Mary, his greeting was' Have no fear. You have won God's favour(i.e blessed are you among women). you are to bear Him(i.e God) a Son,' therefore blessed is Our Lady's womb.
Those are words of honour - Mary is honoured, not worshiped.
If you're catholic, you'll understadn that we belive that Mary was assumed into heaven and so she is closet to God & she is holy.
i do not necessarily feel comfortable with the way some people worship Our Lady's stature, but like in all Catholic statues, Our Lady's should treated with respect and honour because it represents someone who is holy.
the Bible confirms that Mary was an honoured woman -she was blessed. but there is no verse that speaks of worshipping Her

I used to be a catholic but I have since learned the truth from the bible. Mary is not the mother of God. God had no beginning nor does he have any end. Mary was a virgin girl used to incubate the life of God's son until he was born. She was told by an angel to call his name Jesus. Jesus was in heaven with his father when Adam and Eve sinned. He volunteered to empty his spiritual self and come to earth to die for our sins and buy back what Adam lost....eternal life for humans.
Mary raised Jesus and was a faithful follower of God. No where does the bible say we should worship or pray to Mary. Jesus himself said it is only to Jehovah God we give honor and glory. He said he was the only way to Jehovah. He is likened to a personal secretary. No one gets to the boss except by him. Jehovah only hears and answers our prayers. Jehovah only knows when the end will come. Jesus does not know. And Mary was not privy to any of this either. She died a faithful woman. When catholics pray the hail Mary they go directly against the 1st commandment of God to have no other gods against his face nor bow down to them nor be induced to serve them.
The bible condemns prayer and reverence to anyone other than Jehovah God, the Almighty

Some one in the answers gave reference that it is mentioned some where in Bible "honour Father and mother"
I do agree honour father and mother may mention in Holy book but not for God.
God deserved to be worshiped not only honour.
Parents deserved to be honoured rghtfully.
God is God, has no spouse or next of kin. If sone one is parishable, and need some one to be his place later, then That person is not God.

I am a Catholic too and, as you, I have been asking myself the same question throughout the years. However, I believe I've come to realize that we are indeed not praying to her but in a loose sense merely asking her to pray for us i.e. "pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen" Yes many Catholic cultures tend portray the role of the Virgin Mary in a flamboyant manner but the Scripture has it that she is merely the only human being to have conceived in a divine manner and thus is worthy of praising and asking for assistance when you feel God has abandoned you.

If you are a Catholic, then you will realise that, by reciting the Hail Mary, you are asking Mary to help you and pray on your behalf. As in "Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death". You are not praying to her. Hence you will not find a verse telling you to pray to her, any more than you will find a verse telling you to pray to the saints. The same applies to the many saints of the Catholic church.
Worshipping is not the same as praying to.

You are to worship god only . it is OK to pray (talk) to Mary and to love her for all she has done but only as an intercessor or advocate. Especially for people who are addicts ,alcoholics, etc. Say the rosary and you will be cured. I speak from experience.

there is a verse which says honor mother and father.
i trutly believe this pertains to God the Father and his queen of heaven.
i also believe it is honorable for jesus to honor the memory of Mary his mother.
but it is clearly written thou shalt not worship any other God except God the Father. that includes the queen of heaven or any other false diety that fallen angels have Decieved the earth and all its inhabitants with.
it is idolatry to worhip Mary the mother of jesus. she is NOT God. but it is acceptable to give her honor. but it is more expedient to honor your own mother and father, IF they are truly worthy of it.

I saw her image appear on my nacho cheese Chalupa earlier. So I wrapped it up, and I'm selling it on Ebay. The highest bid is on $4,687 right now.

No.
(1 Timothy 2:5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus,
`(Jeremiah 10:14) Every man has behaved so unreasoningly as not to know. Every metalworker will certainly feel shame because of the carved image; for his molten image is a falsehood, and there is no spirit in them.
(Isaiah 44:13-19) As for the wood carver, he has stretched out the measuring line; he traces it out with red chalk; he works it up with a wood scraper; and with a compass he keeps tracing it out, and gradually he makes it like the representation of a man, like the beauty of mankind, to sit in a house. 14 There is one whose business is to cut down cedars; and he takes a certain species of tree, even a massive tree, and he lets it become strong for himself among the trees of the forest. He planted the laurel tree, and the pouring rain itself keeps making it get big. 15 And it has become [something] for man to keep a fire burning. So he takes part of it that he may warm himself. In fact he builds a fire and actually bakes bread. He also works on a god to which he may bow down. He has made it into a carved image, and he prostrates himself to it. 16 Half of it he actually burns up in a fire. Upon half of it he roasts well the flesh that he eats, and he becomes satisfied. He also warms himself and says: “Aha! I have warmed myself. I have seen the firelight.” 17 But the remainder of it he actually makes into a god itself, into his carved image. He prostrates himself to it and bows down and prays to it and says: “Deliver me, for you are my god.” 18 They have not come to know, nor do they understand, because their eyes have been besmeared so as not to see, their heart so as to have no insight. 19 And no one recalls to his heart or has knowledge or understanding, saying: “The half of it I have burned up in a fire, and upon its coals I have also baked bread; I roast flesh and eat. But the rest of it shall I make into a mere detestable thing? To the dried-out wood of a tree shall I prostrate myself?”
(Exodus 20:4-5) “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me;
(Leviticus 26:1) “‘YOU must not make valueless gods for yourselves, and YOU must not set up a carved image or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and YOU must not put a stone as a showpiece in YOUR land in order to bow down toward it; for I am Jehovah YOUR God.
