I'm not sure if you mean improving your language in general, or improving your language if you're learning another language. When I moved to Germany, watching TV was a good help in learning the language, like how to pronounce words correctly. Reading German-language magazines and books was more helpful, though.

What do you mean? Foreign language or english language?

It can be very helpful with foreign language. On television they use more slang and regular conversation rather than the correct way to say something in that language. Which face it noone speaks english the way it is supposed to be spoken. And when trying to learn another language, watching others talk is much more helpful than learning from books that use the proper word that noone actually says.

Loan DVDs, and select the language and the subtitles in the language you whant to learn. It's a good way to learn pronunciation, vocabulary, expressions...

if the TV teach u new languages, it can improve your ability in that new language, which u are learning.

yes, my 4 nieces and nephews came from Dominican Republic about 3 years ago.......when they got here the only thing that they did was watch tv....they are kids after all.......they started watching Dora the Explorer and many other shows and they started to imitate what was said......now they talk english like it is their first language

I learned to speak English off the english speaking programs (Eastern Europe). Started off with Sesame Street....

I like to watch the BBC..and see how the English pronounce English..I am in the US...some of the words the English use are words not used in the US...petrol, bonnet, etc

I am a crazy of the English movies.....!I don't satisfy watching film in theatres.because the will run in a theatre for a long days.I do not have patience to wait till they change the move.So the T.V helps me....!I am a addict of the channels.

TV is a great teacher of language

from natural speed, slang, swearing, cultural, time period, diglossia, pronuciation, female / male talk........ alot really

language is not based on words alone.
